Building Slowly, Blooming Gently

I’ve finally started the Wooden Blooming Bouquet, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve had my eye on this kit since it was released because I think it’s absolutely beautiful .

At home I already have the Wooden Flower Basket, which I enjoyed building so much, and I’ve also made two Wooden Flower Bouquets, one for each of my grandmothers. But this bouquet feels extra special to me because it also connects with another hobby I love: reading!

These days, since school routine started again on the 8th, I’ve been extremely tired. We don’t talk enough about how exhausting an autoimmune disease can be, and honestly, I’ve been feeling completely drained lately. I’ve also been less active on the forum than I’d like. When I get home, I do a few things around the house, have dinner, and go straight to bed.

But today I finally found a little moment to build, disconnect, and breathe. I started this bouquet at my own pace, exactly how I felt like doing it, and I chose to begin with the orange tulips .

For the first time in a bouquet, I’m also adding a bit of paint to the pieces. The difference is subtle, but it’s a touch I’ve really started to enjoy on wooden kits. The orange tulip wasn’t difficult, but it did take some time.

:light_bulb: I highly recommend using a tool like a craft knife to remove the pieces. The wood is thin and delicate, and too much pressure can break it easily. The petals, especially when bending them, require a lot of patience and care because they’re very fragile.

But the result… so worth it. Just look at the inside of the big tulip with those tiny heart details. I’m completely in love!! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I’m not sure when I’ll continue, but hopefully soon I’ll start another flower.

Wishing you all a lovely week, and happy building!!

Yes, she knows, but I work as a primary school teacher in the public sector. It’s not a calm or flexible job where I can change roles or move to something less demanding. This is the only position I can have: being in the classroom as a homeroom teacher, and it requires a lot of energy from me.

At most, I could request to work as a support teacher for another academic year, but there are no available positions for that. In general, we are either homeroom teachers or specialists, and I don’t have a specialization like English or Physical Education, which would mean not having the added responsibility of a homeroom class, but other things. So, unfortunately, it’s quite difficult

I cannot wait to do mine. It will be lovely when you are done. I, too have an autoimmune disease, so I can totally relate to what you are feeling at times. Hang in there, hon.

Awww twin the hearts are beautiful! :pink_heart: The Blooming Book set is so pretty and I can’t wait to see what it looks like completed with your own special touches!

I definitely feel you with the chronic disease thing it sucks. :face_holding_back_tears: I hope you’re able to find enough time to rest and do the things that make you happy. But one step at a time don’t over exert yourself! :light_blue_heart:

I wish there was something I could do to ease things for you! I know as a teacher, there isnt much that can be done to decrease workload. Also as a teacher you are “on” for hours and that too cant be made less.
Be sure to lean on your family, try to make easier less demanding meals, let family help with clean up and laundry. Be sure to talk with them. Every little bit helps, but… you gotta ask!
and do not be so hard on yourself. Do one thing nice for yourself - even if it is small, do it!

This has turned out so pretty! I had a pretty tiring week at work this week too. After going from 0% effort during my shifts during the holidays to like 90% effort my last set :joy:, I almost forgot what it was like to work hard! I can’t imagine how tiring it must be with an autoimmune decease, I’d be dead! :face_with_crossed_out_eyes: I’m glad to see that you have managed to take some time to yourself and get some building done though!:heart: Hopefully you can get used to, and readjust to being back at work soon!

Thank you, truly, Jeanne. You’re absolutely right, being “on” all day is exhausting in ways that are hard to explain. I’ll try to take your advice and be a bit kinder to myself… and yes, ask for help more often. Luckily, my husband helps me a lot and is always there for me, he’s so kind. Thank you for the reminder

Thank you so much, @Atropex . That transition back to full work mode is brutal, right? :see_no_evil_monkey:
I’m really glad I managed to sneak in a little building time too, it helps reset my head a lot. Fingers crossed the adjustment gets easier for all of us :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
