I picked up Beverly’s Ice Cream Truck because I wanted to have a completed example of every kit available for my August meetup. The theme is Boardwalk Treats and Summer Fun, and this one fits right in with all the ice cream, bright colors, and fun little details.
I already had the other kits for the meetup, so this was the last one I needed for the display. Of course, I managed to lose one tiny piece during the build and had to wait for a replacement before I could finish it. That is always frustrating when you are so close, but I was happy to come back to it once the piece arrived.
Overall, I really liked this one. The pink-and-cream truck is adorable, the ice cream case looks great lit up, and there is so much packed into the inside without it feeling too crowded. I especially like the menu signs, the little register, and all the tiny treats.
I made just a couple of small changes in the prep area. The kit called for lemons, but I had misplaced my lemon polymer clay roll, so I used oranges instead. Naturally, I found the lemon roll later. I also did not like the paper filling in the little jar, especially since it had a spoon sitting in it, so I replaced it with resin and tiny foam beads. I am pretty sure the beads were meant to be sprinkles, so I also added some to the ice cream by the dispenser and to the large cone on the counter. Those tiny additions made the treats look even more fun.
Now that it is finished, it is going to make a great example for the meetup and adds another fun summer build to my collection.
What else would you put in that little jar to make it look more realistic?
@Kim_Kieffer the truck is great i love the oranges you did kim ! The resin and tiny beads look better in the jar … maybe add some colouring?? It will look great at your meet up
What a fun addition to your meetup display! I love the little custom touches you made, especially swapping in the resin and foam beads. They make the treats look much more realistic, and adding a few sprinkles to the ice cream was such a clever idea. As for the jar, I’d probably fill it with colorful candy pieces or cookie crumbles to give it even more of that classic ice cream shop feel.
