So it’s done. It took way longer than I wanted or expected it to. Not my most proudest build, but it’s mine and I love it.
First let’s start with the good shall we? I mean it’s a good place to start.
The view is amazing. It’s gorgeous in the way it reflects an ambiance of calm, learning and has little places for you to hide with a good book and forget the world.
The lighting makes this kit so amazing. The chandelier gives a warm embrace to the books and levels. While the LEDs on the side illuminate enough to read but not to make the are an industrial government library. I love the lights here.
The books while a pain to make, give it the 3d effect it needs for the space allowed. You can see the loving care they were placed by the librarian and other people. The knowledge is respected and venerated
That staircase!! The color! The double circle it completes makes the centerpiece of this kit stunning. I love this aspect the most I think.
the bad..
The books man. All the dang books. I seriously considered rage quitting on this thing and just giving up. But David doesn’t give up remember? So stuck with it. Still I think the same effect could have been done with blocks of books instead of individual pieces. You can’t even see the covers!
the materials for the walls and furniture are some of the more thinner I have done. You have to be so precise and careful when assembling I broke at least three pieces and thankfully there were extras! Cause .. dang..
the pointless sliding balconies on each side like why? What is the point? Just to be unique I suppose but it does take away from the reality of the library for me
the assembly of the walls to be put together was different and difficult I’ve done books books before ( haven’t we all? lol ) and generally they follow a standard assembly of walls but when the tabs are actually too small and make the connection loose, and the slots where one side meets the other can’t align because of previously said loose slots dude. it hurt.
I had to actually glue the walls to each side. Floor and ceiling. Taping them to hold them together so they wouldn’t fall. My poor B700 should get a promotion to C6000 level glue!!
Would I recommend it? Only if you want to be really challenged with a stunning outcome. I’ll probably put it on my shelf and admire. But the sour taste of the building process will likely remain for a while.
Check out the video like always and pics attached for those who don’t YouTube n stuff. Thank you amazing community. You guys rock the Casbah
Honestly, this spiral staircase is absolutely stunning!! I was already looking forward to seeing the final result when you first shared it. Despite all the challenges, you made it, David! You should be so proud of yourself! Some parts may have been frustrating, but you overcame them all. Your patience and determination will take you far in every adventure ahead!
WOW!! This literally looks amazing. I really like the vibe of this kit … I can’t believe how many books you did an amazing job! You should be very proud
That’s why I don’t choose the bookstore kits—ten books is fine, but thousands? Haha, the repetition bores me a bit; the same thing happened to me with the pagoda—it was just repeating the same process over and over.
But it turned out to be a fantastic kit.
I agree that the spiral staircase is the hero of this build. It really does look amazing completed but i agree that having individual books that cant be seen in the end result is a little pointless.
What a journey this build was! It definitely sounds like it tested your patience, but the finished result is absolutely worth celebrating. The staircase and lighting really do make it look like a grand, cozy library, and I appreciate your honest review of both the highs and the frustrations. I had to laugh at the B700 needing a promotion too. Congratulations on sticking with it and bringing such a beautiful kit to life!
@Suzanne_Jones Thank you, that staircase was a amazing idea for the designers on this kit. I think if I have to make books in the future, Im just gonna avoid the kit entirely. For a little while anyways lol
Thank you so much for sharing such a detailed review. I do love that spiral staircase but I can certainly understand your pain with the books. Your patience and perseverance paid off because it turned out beautiful.
@Nita_Davis thank you Nita! It was a labor for sure, but I am enjoying it more now just sitting here and having it stare me down on my craft desk lol… oh so judgingly…
