What Robotime Kit Should I Build Next? Looking for Recommendations

Now that I’ve completed the London Tour Bus and the Starry Night Orrery, I’m starting to think about what I should build next.

From these two builds, I’ve realized I definitely prefer kits that take longer to complete and have more pieces. I enjoy builds where I can really take my time and feel immersed in the process, rather than finishing too quickly.

I also found that build comfort matters a lot to me. I prefer when pieces fit together smoothly and don’t require too much force, since that makes the experience more enjoyable overall. While I can appreciate the design of more mechanical kits, I think I’m more drawn to builds that feel structured and satisfying to assemble step by step.

Based on that, I’d love some recommendations —what Robotime kits would you suggest for someone who prefers longer, more detailed builds with a smoother assembly experience?

I’m not a ROKR builder yet, but others such as @Nita_Davis and @TheToday or
@Jerry_Boswijk are all accomplished builders. I’m sure they will have some suggestions.

wow! They look amazing! I wonder how long did it take you to finish both?

It took me a little longer to finish the London Tour Bus because it had more pieces. If I had to guess, I probably spent six hours on the bus and four hours on the Starry Night Orrery. I am very much a perfectionist so that’s why it takes me so long.

I’m gonna recommend you to go for the two “big detailed ships”, which are the Titanic (or Atlantic Voyager) and the Seahorse Barque. They take long, they’re full of details and they’re pretty smooth builds overall. I’ve also loved the satisfaction and excitement of seeing your ship slowly coming to life, day after day.

Also and while the Seahorse Barque is tagged as a Mechanical Kit, there’s only one mechanism in it and it’s pretty simple, no gears involved.

It really is a fun one to build. I got it at the meetup @Liset organized and I really enjoyed building it.

Although it is a mechanical build, the Dream Gift Factory is definitely a build worth the time! It took me a week to build it but finishing it and seeing every part work smoothly felt very satisfying!

My top three most favorite ROKR builds are (in no specific order) the Space Shuttle, the Dream Gift Factory and the London Travel Marble Run. All are beautifully designed and the functions are amazing to watch.

I did 2 of them and they were indeed great to build. I did not do the space shuttle yet, but I guess it would be great for me too. I like getting it all to work smoothly :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

This harp that I am working on is also quite challenging.

I absolutely love the London Bus, it’s super cute. Was it a challenging build? I’ve been thinking about it but not too sure if I’m ready yet for it

It wasn’t too challenging in my opinion. There were just a few flexible pieces that are a bit fragile and require some care when putting it into place.

I actually won the Titanic in the New Year’s giveaway but I haven’t had the chance to start it. The Seahorse Barque is on my list of builds I want to do at some point.
