[ Vintage Rolife ] Dora’s Loft Update 7

Hey guys! :waving_hand:t2:

THE GAUNTLET IS FINALLY OVER!! I spent my day finishing the last two plants, and as of tomorrow I will officially start building the structure!

The gauntlet today started with a tree:

I had to make the tree out of wire, and then wrap toilet paper around it. After that I had to unwind a paper rope and then wrap that around the tree, Finally I had to hand cut out all the leaves and glue them on. This is the first wire tree I’ve ever had to make, and I actually think it turned out pretty good!

Second up was all the flowers and leaves for the stair railing:

This was certainly tedious, I had to cut out 108 and petals, and then glue them one by one. After that I had to cut out a million leaves, it felt like it took forever! Haha, like I said I spent my whole day on it.

Here’s all the plants together:

To finish off my day of building I made a cat out clay!:rofl:

Here is the reference photo from the manual… it’s supposed to look funky!:rofl:

This will be my last update for this build, my next post should be the completed build, I am super excited to see it finally all come together! Thanks for reading!

WOW! This all looks like such intricate work…but you are crushing it. Your tree is pure perfection and your cat is totally adorable! Your claywork is on point!

Yeah, it was pretty intricate stuff, the flowers especially, kind of a slog!

How long has this taken you…

Im still on wire work and I can’t get motivated to continue.

I don’t like making the flowers either…yet I have done SO many flower models…Both ROKR and Robotime/Rowood. We all like a good challenge.

I started this build on February 7th, so I’ve been working on it for a little over a month now!

I don’t mind making flowers, it’s just when I have to glue a million petals one by one, making 10 of the same thing I get a little impatient!:rofl:

But you rock at making them out of clay…I think it might be easier than crafting out of clay? Am I wrong to think so? Or does the tediousness just bore you

I just get kind of bored when I have to make a bunch of the same thing! I don’t mind doing lots of different plants!

It’s okay to put a model aside for a bit when you lose motivation. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Been there, done that. When it becomes monotonous or unenjoyable, move on for a bit. @Carmie

This is exactly why I skip all around the instructions… I make a few plants, then build a piece of furniture. I cross them off as I go. Then I go back to making more plants…

I just can’t skip around the instructions, I’m super OCD about following them! I was on a mission to get this stuff done today, I’m happy I did!

We all have our own processes…and your dedication truly shows.

Wow, what kind of kit is this that you have to make everything by hand?:open_mouth:

You’ve done such a great job! The cat is adorable! I have this kit to do, but I’m not sure about that tree or the stairway flowers. Wow…a lot of work! lol
