Well! Las Christmas I was able to unbox, start, continue and finish my first ever Book Nook. It’s not (by far) the first one, or last one, I’d choose for my home decoration (it’s all about personal taste, am I right?), but this was gonna be (and it was indeed) my Christmas gift for my brother, who happens to be a librarian and a book lover.
This was gonna be an interesting and challenging journey since I’ve never built a Book Nook or a Miniature House before, but you’ve gotta start somewhere, right? So… Let’s go! This is an all-in-a-post kind of thing since I’ve built some kits during my time not-coming-to-the-community. After that, I’ll go back to my usual once I receive my Cuckoo Clock kit so I can finally get on board with that one. My home needs a proper clock already, you know? And maybe after that I’ll go for that brand new Coffee Factory, yay.
So… The first thing I had to do was to put together the first bookshelf and then adjust the battery box and the cords through the floor base:
This one was an easy enough step of the process. The bookshelf consisted on painted parts combined with crafted books, and just by looking at the parts included in the kit, I’ve realized I was gonna spend a loooot of time crafting tiny books. Entertaining enough though!
Some steps after that I had to put the floor together and start adding things to it. Funny enough, that Book of Chess was just casually standing there while I was busy crafting the first wall of the Bookstore. See those blue-green-ish parts put together for another bookshelf? I did have to use glue there. I HAD to. There was no other way in my head
those parts move so easily and fall apart as easily as well.
So yeah, for that wall I had to use A LOT of glue. I’ve told you before that, for me, glue is an enemy. But hey, I randomly found a “glue you can paint” (it comes with a small brush to apply it), and I surprisingly found myself enjoying that kind of glue. Everything is not completely lost, folks!
Oh, you know what I did dislike? The plant-crafting. Cut the plant at a proper size? Twist it into the pot? Stick it on the bookshelf? Daaaamn. I guess I’m not gonna be ordering the Holiday Garden Book Nook any time soon ![]()
Anyway, after that the first wall finally came together and everything was starting to take shape (and, more importantly, the Book of Chess wasn’t just standing there
)
Then and as expected I had to prepare the second wall. This one was easier than the first one, maybe because I didn’t have to build the bookshelfs and I didn’t have to glue anything this time! (But another plant came to annoy me, yikes).
Then… Yeah, everything was basically coming together and the end was near. I had to build the top floor of the Bookstore adding it to that wall, and then it was time to put it all together. Honestly, it looked beautiful!
But, if you take a look at the left part of the picture, something was wrong, or slightly wrong, since the top wooden piece holding the lamp wasn’t completely fitting into the wall hole. Not because it didn’t fit, but because there was nothing keeping the walls together and they were slightly opening to the sides. As I would find out later, the ceiling part would fix that for me!
Aaaand… Everything would come together. The chair was the last thing to add, the last detail. I didn’t truly understand why the chair is the last thing to add, since it’s a bit tricky to make spaces for it behind the books and the table with the book and the cup of coffee. But hey, I managed. And the lights worked as well! I freaked out when I touched the button on the floor and it didn’t turn on, then I remembered the battery box has an ON/OFF switch and I had it on “OFF”, lmao.
Either way, I love how it turned out! And my brother LOVED it. He’s already posted it in his social media and it’s already decorating one of his bookshelves. So… Mission accomplished! This won’t be the last you’ve heard from me, Book Nook world. Remember my words.
