I always need a place to store my finished pieces while I work on the rest of the room. Instead of just putting them in a Tupperware or something I decided to pretend they are big pieces of furniture that need be stored in a garage.
I even got these super cute, super realistic boxes to put tiny details in. They even came with clear tape and shipping labels.
Hello Kitty offered to let Nanci store her belongings in the garage while house is being built. It’s not a problem because Hello Kitty doesn’t need her garage for clients right now.
You can see there are little books and decorations and a tea set inside of this box.
Treating the miniatures this way feels like it’s own kind of pretend play.
I like to think about ways that I could take the realism further. Perhaps I could bubble wrap things. Or get a moving van and start adding straps and blankets.
May be one day I could do an unpacking video. Right now I’m mostly just able to do simpler photography.

The boxes are super fun. I got them in five packs from Ali express. I can even tape them up and store things like real boxes.
I wonder what would happen if you sent it through the mail. I’m sure they would refuse.

I could never get the whole shipping label on and they would, for sure, crush it beyond recognition.
I do like to imagine them gently placing the tiny package on top of the pile. And I imagine them playing jokes like asking for two strong loaders to come and pick up this heavy parcel. (I’ve seen that joke in real life.) so funny.
But actually they are probably too busy to play my tiny package game. They are already so stressed I certainly don’t want to make the good people at the post office more stressed.

How is this so cute I want some of those boxes too. The garage is honestly the perfect set up for many things and I love seeing it pop up so often.
