Tips & Tricks: Organizing Your Wood Sheets with a Letter Holder
If you’ve ever lost your momentum mid-build hunting for the right wood sheet, this simple organizer idea may be for you!
I 3D printed a 6-slot letter holder — but you don’t need a 3D printer. A standard letter holder from Staples or any office supply store works perfectly!
The best part? Both sides are labeled differently — just rotate it to match your kit!
Side 1 — Smaller kits (2 wood sheets per slot):
A B | C D | E F | G H | IJK+ | Paper
Side 2 — Larger kits (3 wood sheets per slot):
Paper | abc | def | ghi | jkl | m+
A few other details that make it work:
Dividers are different heights — taller for the paper slot, shorter for wood sections.
Each colorful divider makes it easy to find your section at a glance.
Sits on my right side for quick, easy access during a build.
No more shuffling through a pile mid-build — just flip to the right side and grab what you need!
This has come up in the Robotime Community before, so I wanted to share my setup here too in case it helps someone!
(P.S. Sharp-eyed readers may have spotted my cat Licorice supervising the photoshoot in the background! )

I don’t have a dedicated build space. I look forward to the day that I do (funnily enough I had a dream about setting up my craft desk looking out at a water view hmmm). Anyway, if I do set up a space, I do like the idea of a letter rack or magazine storage to hold the sheets.
I’ve bookmarked your post for future ideas of my setup. I see. Your cat at the back of the dividers. These are great tips. Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas.
What a clever way to keep your wood sheets organized and your build momentum going strong. Using a letter holder with labeled sides for different kit sizes is both practical and genius. Plus the idea of dividers with varying heights makes it even easier to grab what you need quickly. This simple setup is sure to bring lots of joy and efficiency to your DIY projects!
You’ve made it smart and well-organized. I don’t have much space at home to store all my stuff, and something like this would take up too much space for me
Its lovely!! I like the painted colors! for me i usually just keep them in the box alphabetically. So far i did not have much place for something extra on the table
