One hour of time gone, a frustrated discovery and a nice memory

So, as predicted, I began working on one of the kits I received last week. I chose the Animal Circus! Whoo hoo. Yay.

Wrong

As like all of us, I opened it up, gazed in admiration at the art work, and design and tested the electronic parts. Easy right? Not for this friendly neighborhood crafter.

This kit uses either batteries or usb c as a power source, has a motor, touch sensor and led strips. I connected it all to a usb cord I have , waited with anticipation… aaannnndd.

Nada.

Goose egg.

Zip.

Nothing comes on. No lights. No funny circus music. No joy.

I try everything again and still nothing. I change cords. Try a different room ( cause ya never know right?) nothing. Ok. Breathe. I contact customer service at their place of biz and send an email. Cause I ain’t working on something that don’t work for me. Nuh-huh honey!

On to the next kit I have. The Twilight Sakura path. This is another big one and expected to take a while. Little did i know…

@Cozy.little.palette advised me that kit is small. And the pieces are very fiddly and man she was right. An hour gone and this is all I had to show for it.

Ok now I admit I do go fast in my builds. I should slow down more. Seems This kit is gonna break me like a wild stallion. It’s cool. I’m calm, my fat fingers can do this.

Thanks for reading this far. I’m almost done really. :crossed_fingers:t4:

I come to a step where it requires you to actually cut out paper for windows it’s parchment ? Paper and needs to be individually cut and glued onto the specific piece I had to stop I didn’t think they made newer kits like this anymore and it’s been forever since I have done this
I bust out Nicky and my ruler and start cutting and boom I’m transported to my first ever kit Simon’s coffee I get a little misty eyed and I smile I love this kind of stuff!!!

All bad feelings gone Oh I’m gonna enjoy this one Have a good week friends may your current builds bring you happiness and peace I’ll update when I get further along lol

When I saw how much you got done after an hour, my jaw literally dropped! I never realized this build would be so detailed and require so much patience. Come on, David, you’ve built 250 books already, this little challenge doesn’t stand a chance!

Ooh, love your (slow) progress so far. I’ve just finished a cut out paper kit and it certainly takes a lot longer than you think.

Sometimes the fiddly ones end up being the most rewarding. Happy building!

Man I hope so… this kit is too cool for me to have to shelve it for so long.

WOW! This kit appears that it will not be as easy as it first appears. I love reading your stories. I hope the company will take care of your issues.

@Nita_Davis yeah definitely misrepresented in the description of this one lol. But it’s probably just me and my overworked anxiety riddled body. Man I hope they get back soon! I’m gonna be super p***ed if they don’t do anything about it.

With some other companies, you just gotta hope for the best.

Hahaha, this was quite the rollercoaster! :joy: From the Animal Circus refusing to cooperate to Twilight Sakura Path testing your patience, I love that cutting those tiny window pieces suddenly brought back memories of your very first kit. Sometimes those nostalgic little steps are exactly what we need to turn frustration into excitement again. Can’t wait to see how this one comes together!
