You read it right. I changed the name of the famed Elsa’s Tailoring to Lily’s Dress shop to pay homage to my husband’s grandmother who did this as a way of living in the 1950s.
As always, I can’t help but put a bit of personalization.
Of course, I had to change the name. Initially, I printed Lily’s Boutique but I had to redo as it turns out, the actual name of the shop was Lily’s Dress Shop.
I had to add a thread to the sewing machine. I used yellow so it would stand out. With this, I also had to change the cloth to match the thread. I also changed the chair cushion as I find the cloths redundant already.
I really love this detail. The vintage sewing machine just brings me back to my childhood when I just sit under the machine and try to tinker the knobs. I can still her the rhythmic sound it makes when my aunt uses it.
As for the dress, I had to change the style a bit to make it look more elegant. I had to hand sew the ribbon because the double sided just would stick.
I love how you paid homage to your husband’s grandmother with this beautiful build. Renaming it makes it so much more meaningful and personal. Such a beautiful tribute!
My mother in law and husband would often talk about her and her craft. It was unfortunate that I only get to see her a couple of times before she passed.
@joy.licerio your husbands grandmother would be proud i know you have done such a beautiful job on this … adding the thread to the sewing machine changing the dress to make it more elegant … also the hat …its beautiful hun x
