You know those random thoughts that just… show up while you’re crafting?
Not the dangerous kind. More like the thoughts your brain whispers when nobody asked. ![]()
While building:
“Why is this piece THIS tiny?”
“Surely there was an easier way to design this.”
“Ohhh… so THAT’S what that tiny piece was for.”
“I wonder if I can improve this.”
Five minutes later:
“I should have just followed the instructions.”
While collecting kits:
“I don’t need another kit.”
“But it’s so cute.”
“I already have fifteen kits waiting.”
“Technically, this one is different.”
“I’m basically saving money when I buy kits on sale.”
Adds to cart. ![]()
And then we see someone else’s collection:
“How can she afford THAT many kits?!”
“Does she have a secret room just for these?”
“Why does her collection look so organized?”
“Why can’t MY supplies look like that?”
While looking at someone’s finished miniature:
“HOW did he make that?!”
“Why can’t I be that creative?”
“Why can’t I be that neat?”
“Look at those tiny details!”
“Wait… is that handmade?!”
“I would never have thought of that.”
And then comes the most dangerous thought of all:
“I should buy that kit, too.” ![]()
While reading community posts:
“That’s brilliant!”
“I NEED to try that.”
“Okay, adding that idea to the list.”
“I wonder what tool she used…”
“I should ask how he did that.”
Not because we’re copying.
We’re researching. ![]()
We’re learning.
We’re getting inspired.
We’re expanding our creative horizons.
And occasionally… quietly rethinking our entire crafting existence. ![]()
Then there’s scrolling Robotime posts at bedtime:
“Just one more.”
One post later:
“That’s cute.”
Another:
“Oh, I like that one.”
Another:
“WAIT. Where did they get that?”
Thirty minutes later:
“I don’t need another kit.”
…while mentally rearranging the craft room to make space for another kit. ![]()
And honestly, I think that’s one of the fun things about this community.
We see something amazing and our first thought isn’t always “Wow, that’s beautiful.”
Sometimes it’s:
“WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT?!”
“HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!”
“I WANT TO TRY THAT.”
And that’s okay.
Because we’re respectful intrusive thinkers.
We admire.
We wonder.
We get inspired.
We learn.
We occasionally compare ourselves.
And then we go back to our tiny pieces, tiny tools, questionable glue choices, and increasingly large collection of kits.
And sometimes…
we just stare at someone else’s masterpiece and whisper:
“…I want to be that good someday.” ![]()
![]()
Then immediately:
“…but first, where did they get that tiny chair?” ![]()
So tell me:
What’s YOUR most common respectful intrusive crafting thought?
I promise I won’t judge.
…I’ll probably have the exact same one. ![]()
DISCLAIMER: These are intrusive thoughts, not personal attacks.
No makers, collectors, kits, bank accounts, or crafting egos were harmed in the making of this post. These are simply the random thoughts that occasionally wander into my brain without an invitation. Any resemblance to thoughts you’ve also had is purely coincidental… or perhaps we’re just the same kind of crazy. ![]()
