I was originally going to save this Treasure Tray for the Central Indiana DIY & Crafting Club Meetup (Bring Your Own Project Day!) on Sunday, but I just couldn’t wait!
This is as far as I got today.
I decided to add a little customization by filling the engraved Rolife and ROKR logos with gold acrylic paint, and I’m using pink acrylic paint for all of the letter tiles. I think those little pops of color will look really nice against the beautiful two-tone wood.
I’m also really impressed with how smooth this wood feels. It has such a nice finish, and the grain is gorgeous.
I did run into one little surprise along the way. The large bottom panel looked symmetrical, but I found that the engraved side needs to face up or the front slots won’t line up correctly. Thankfully I hadn’t glued anything yet, so it was an easy fix.
I also had one spot where the laser hadn’t cut all the way through a piece. It may have just been my copy, but I was able to carefully finish the cut with my X-Acto knife, so it wasn’t a big problem.
I can really tell that the Treasure Tray is of quality material,
Great idea adding colors to make it your own. I live the pink letters!
Have fun at your meet-up!
It’s looking fantastic already! I love the gold-filled logos and the pink lettering, they’re going to add such a fun personal touch. Thanks for sharing those helpful tips about the bottom panel and the laser-cut piece too. I’m sure they’ll save other builders from the same surprises. Have fun showing it off at the meetup!
