Guess What Our Community Helped Bring to Life? The Treasure Tray Is Here 👀

Hi family :yellow_heart:

We have been hiding a little treasure for a while, and today we finally want to give you a first look.

Meet the Treasure Tray. :sparkles:
Yes, the name sounds a little magical, and honestly, it kind of is.

At first glance, it may look like a wooden organizer.
But if you are the kind of crafter who has ever lost a tiny piece, mixed up your boards, buried your manual under ten other things, or said “I swear I just put it right here,” then you already know why this little tray matters.

This idea did not begin in a meeting room.

It began from real crafting tables.

We kept seeing members in our Facebook Groups and Robotime Community using all kinds of clever ways to organize their kits. Plates, boxes, folders, trays, handmade holders, anything that could help keep boards, parts, tools, and manuals under control.

Then we saw Martin’s creative idea.

His organizer concept made us stop and think:
Wait… this is not just storage.
This is something many crafters actually need.

So we started asking, listening, and bringing the idea into the community. Members shared their thoughts. Our team collected feedback. R&D joined the discussion. We looked at the structure, material, size, compartments, stability, and how it could work with different DIY assembly kits.

And little by little, the Treasure Tray started to take shape.

It is made with walnut plywood, with a warm natural finish and detailed laser engraving. It is designed to fit most assembly kits, with space for boards, panels, manuals, tools, small parts, and those mysterious little bags that somehow always multiply on the table.

And yes, there is more. :eyes:

We added a few surprises too:

:mobile_phone: A phone stand area, so you can watch tutorials, check photos, record your crafting process, or proudly video call someone to say, “Look what I’m making.”

:wrapped_gift: A mysterious interactive section hidden inside the design.

:gear: Mechanical details inspired by ROKR.

:straight_ruler: A built in ruler for everyday crafting.

:puzzle_piece: Multiple slots to help organize boards and panels by steps.

:sparkles: And many tiny details waiting for you to discover.

Some of them are useful.
Some of them are playful.
Some of them might make you go, “Ohhh, that’s clever.”

That is why we call it the Treasure Tray.

Because it is not only for storing pieces.
It is for making your whole crafting time feel clearer, calmer, and a little more fun.

Now we really want to hear from you.

Since this idea came from the community, we hope the next step can still grow with the community.

Tell us in the comments:

  1. Would you use this Treasure Tray for your kits?
  2. Which feature do you like most?
  3. Do you think the size looks useful for your usual builds?
  4. If this became available, would you be interested in getting one?
  5. What price range would feel reasonable to you for a premium wooden organizer like this?

You can answer seriously, casually, or with full crafter chaos energy. We welcome all of it. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

And of course, a big thank you to Martin for the original inspiration, and to every community member who keeps sharing real ideas with us.

This is one of the things we love most about Robotime Community:
a small problem from someone’s crafting table can become a real idea, then a shared discussion, then something our team and R&D can work on together.

So now we are passing it back to you.

What do you think of the Treasure Tray?
Would it earn a spot on your crafting table? :yellow_heart:

I’m really happy that Robotime listened to my ideas and brought them to life. This kit is truly useful in helping organize wood planks, tools, and everything else.

Personally, I find it really necessary; I will definitely use it to avoid fumbling around looking for pieces of wood or losing them.

Therefore, what I like most are the dividers for the wood planks. Also, the engraved designs on the box are really impressive.
I’m not sure about the dimensions, but the image shows that the width of this box is a bit large; I think it should be a little shorter to fit smaller workbenches. I think a price of $5-10 would be a suitable choice.
I hope Robotime will soon finalize it and bring it to market so that I and everyone else can have the opportunity to own one.

I love the idea!

  1. Yes, I would definitely use it, since I currently use the box it comes in to organize everything whenever I build a kit.

  2. I love the letter-organizing dividers, the two front compartments for small parts, and the plastic envelopes.

  3. Yes, because if it were bigger, it would be cumbersome and take up too much space.

  4. Yes, I would be interested in getting one.

  5. Well, I don’t really know much about prices, maybe between €20 and €30?

It would be great to have a wood engraving option that allows you to add the name of the person who will use it, of course, for an extra charge, say €5.

And it would also be great if Martin got one as a gift for coming up with such a great idea!

Wow!! I have been looking for something like this forever!!! I would absolutely use this every kit I make!! It’s so on point in decor and functionality!! I have the perfect spot in my desk for this right now. I’ve been using soo many different ways to stack my panels and store my parts while I build. Had to get creative on some builds lol. This all in one would solve this!! A good price point I believe would be in the $30 range honestly.

THANKS TO MARTIN

Dude this is actually awesome!! :raising_hands:

Thanks for taking the time to bring our feedback to life. I remember that post and all the rendered versions people were sharing, so it’s really cool seeing it turn into something real. It makes the whole process feel a lot more collaborative and not just one-sided.

I love that you kept the wood raw so we can fully personalize it!! That’s such a smart choice because everyone builds differently and likes their own setup. It gives people the freedom to paint, seal, or customize it however they want.

I would still love a cup holder situation though, especially for holding water cups while painting. Even a simple slot or attachment would make a big difference for people who work with paints or glue.

The modular and buildable aspect is honestly my favourite part. Being able to adjust or expand it depending on the kit makes it way more practical. For simpler builds this would be perfect as is, but for something like the ROKR mechanical kits I could easily see needing two setups.

I also really like the dividers, the drawer, and the little details at the back. Those small touches actually matter a lot when you’re in the middle of a build and trying to stay organized.

Overall not much to critique. This feels thoughtful, functional, and genuinely made with the community in mind. 10/10 execution on something this meaningful and personal. This one really feels like it’s ours :puzzle_piece::yellow_heart:

I’d definitely consider picking one up depending on the price. Maybe something similar to a DIY kit? Even without colours it’s still premium wood, so hopefully it’s a thicker type that won’t fray easily with repeated use.

EDIT:
Turn the Ruler into Metal instead of wood… or have the option to change if the wood is the default. AND like the Cup Holder Idea down below I circled where I would like to have an area to put a cup.

Well, I don’t have a crafting table. I craft on the chaise couch and every night I have to pack everything away.
Would I use this??

You bet you’re sweet Nellie I would.
It would mean that I could just pick this up and relocate to a safe cat and dog free zone until next time and not waste time setting everything up again!!
And the design is amazing. There are even little cogs for me to play with when I’m stressing over something not behaving!!
I was going to say “Where can I purchase this” until you said it’s not available yet.
I would purchase this before another kit tbh.

This is absolutely BRILLIANT!! Take my money, I want one. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Wow ROKR have taken my tray idea to another level..
I’m so pleased they are going to bring this to market as it truly does help to organise everything..
Many people asked me to make one for them but was impossible for me so when ROKR approached me that they were going to make a version I was delighted..
Thank you ROKR for including me, means a lot …Martin

Nice!

I’d definitley use this foe builds with many boards and lots of small parts. The feature I like most is the slots for separating the cut-out boards (theb i wouldn’t have to rummage through my craft box trying to find the right board).

Size looks just about right, too.

As for the price, i think not more than $25.

Wow!! I love everything about this! Thank you so much Martin for inspiring Robotime to make this Treasure Tray :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: it will definitely be helpful for crafting.

My only suggestion is to add a cup holder to store precision cutter, filers, pliers, even markers.

Lastly, I hope it’s in the $10-20 price range :folded_hands: and I hope it gets released soon. I’m excited to own one for myself.

This looks absolutely stunning. It’s the perfect blend of utility and artistry and I love how it uses vertical space so efficiently without losing that cozy, vintage workshop aesthetic. You can really tell how much thought went into making this practical for everyday crafting while keeping it looking like a premium desk piece. Fantastic work team, can’t wait to see this launched:tada:

1. Would you use this Treasure Tray for your kits?

Absolutely! It looks like a fantastic central hub for a workspace. I’d use it as an “Active Project Station” to keep all the specific pieces, specialized materials, and tools for my current build organized in one place rather than scattered across the desk.

2. Which feature do you like most?

The “stepped vertical dividers” at the back are brilliant. Most organizers force you to stack sheets or reference materials flat, which means things get buried and forgotten. Having them tiered vertically means everything stays visible at a glance. I also love the subtle integration of the mechanical gears which is giving it a great tactile, premium feel.

3. Do you think the size looks useful for your usual builds?

Yes, the footprint looks incredibly functional. It’s compact enough to not completely take over a desk, yet the deep lower compartments and vertical slots maximize the 3D space. It looks perfectly sized for handling standard sticker sheets, wooden pieces, specialized paper craft elements, and handheld tools simultaneously.

4. If this became available, would you be interested in getting one?

Definitively, because I appreciate clean workspace organization and premium desk aesthetics. So, a functional, high-quality wooden piece like this would definitely be my choice.

5. What price range would feel reasonable to you for a premium wooden organizer like this?

Given the intricate laser-cut detailing, mechanical elements and the premium look of the wood finish, a fair and reasonable price range would be around $20 to $35 (approx. ₹2,000 to ₹3,400). It hits that sweet spot for a durable, high-quality craft organizer.

Although I’m leaning heavily toward the Walnut/Dark Wood finish. There’s something incredibly grounding about dark wood tones, because it gives off a vintage, cozy workshop vibe that instantly puts me in a focused, creative mindset. It feels less like a storage box and more like a piece of heirloom furniture.

  1. Would you use this Treasure Tray for your kits?
Yes, definitely  I think it would make the crafting process feel much more organized and less messy while building.

  2. Which feature do you like most?
The phone stand area! I’m always checking tutorials, reference photos, or recording little videos while crafting, so I think that feature is really clever and useful.

  3. Do you think the size looks useful for your usual builds?
Yes, especially for medium to larger builds with many small parts.

  4. If this became available, would you be interested in getting one?
    Yes, I would.

  5. What price range would feel reasonable to you for a premium wooden organizer like this?
Around CAD $20-30 would feel reasonable to me.

Extra thought:
A removable tray with extra dividers could also be really useful for organizing tiny finished parts separately during more detailed builds

What an amazing idea. I would definitely use it. I never lost anything so far but it might make crafting so much more comfortable.

I like the space to organize the wooden boards and the spaces for little screws or other contents of bags the best.

The size looks good for the kits I usually build.

I would definitely want to get one if this became available.

Prize range I would think around €20-€30.

Would you use this Treasure Tray for your kits?
Yes, especially for larger or more detailed builds where I have many boards, manuals, tools, and loose parts spread across my table. I really like the idea of having a dedicated “active project” space instead of constantly reorganizing piles around me :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I could even see myself using the board divider system on simpler builds just because having one board per slot would make it so easy to quickly grab the correct board without double-checking letters over and over.

Which feature do you like most?
The vertical board organization is probably my favorite feature so far. Keeping boards sorted during a long build can save a surprising amount of time, especially when several boards look similar at first glance.

I currently use a plastic mail/paper organizer for some builds, but the slots are very wide, so I often end up putting multiple boards into one section. It never fails that I grab the wrong board from that slot

That is why I really like the idea of dedicated single-board slots with the label visible in front of the board instead of covered by it. Being able to quickly see exactly which board belongs in each section would make organization much easier during a complex build.

Honestly, this is somewhere Robotime could probably do some really interesting statistical analysis. Since you already know exactly how many boards are included in each kit and what the board letter ranges are, you could analyze your existing kits to see what the most common number of boards actually is across different kit types. That could really help determine the ideal number of slots and spacing for the final design.

Do you think the size looks useful for your usual builds?
Overall yes, although I think the board slots should stay fairly narrow since they are labeled for individual boards. A snug fit would help keep thinner boards upright without leaning or flopping around during the build process.

I just realized from the additional photos that the side handles appear to actually be pull-out drawers for small parts, which makes much more sense now :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Even with the drawers though, I still think removable plastic insert trays could work really well inside them. Personally, I often need to bring tiny parts closer to my face while searching through them, especially things like miniature doorknobs, brads, magnets, or tiny hardware pieces hiding in a mixed section.

For my own workspace setup, I’m not always sure I would have enough side clearance to fully pull out drawers comfortably during a build, so being able to simply lift out a lightweight plastic insert tray and bring it closer to me would probably be more practical for how I craft.

I also think plastic inserts with smooth rounded interior corners would work especially well because tiny pieces could easily be swept out with a fingertip instead of getting trapped in sharp corners :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I also think adjustable divider walls for those trays would be very useful, but I would prefer the divider slots themselves not be deeply recessed. Tiny parts like brads or doorknobs would inevitably end up slipping down into those gaps during a build.

Honestly, if the final version does not include removable trays, I may end up 3D printing my own inserts for it :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

If this became available, would you be interested in getting one?
Definitely. I think many regular builders would enjoy having something designed specifically around the workflow of miniature and mechanical kit building.

What price range would feel reasonable to you for a premium wooden organizer like this?
For me, probably somewhere comparable to a standard kit in the $30–40 US range depending on the final size and features.

I also assume part of the fun would be building and assembling it ourselves, which honestly makes it feel even more “Robotime.” I really like that the wood appears natural and unfinished enough that builders could either leave the walnut look as-is or customize and paint it if they wanted to match their craft space.

To help keep the starting price lower, I could also see a modular approach working really well. The base organizer could include the core board storage and workspace features, and then optional accessories or add-on modules could be purchased separately over time.

That would let people figure out how they actually use the system before investing in extra features. Some builders may want cupholders, extra trays, larger part storage, phone/tablet holders, specialty dividers, or additional board sections, while others may prefer a simpler setup.

It could almost become an expandable crafting system that grows with the builder’s needs instead of requiring everyone to buy the largest fully-equipped version immediately.

I could also see two size options working really well someday:

  • a smaller version for beginner or simpler kits
  • a larger version for complex builds with many boards and accessories

Overall this feels like a very thoughtful community-inspired idea, and you can really tell it came from real crafting experiences :sparkles:
