When I built Corner Bookstore, I wanted to imagine what this little bookshop would look like on a perfect fall day.
I carried autumn throughout the whole scene with colorful fallen leaves, pumpkins, fall plants and little seasonal details tucked around the bookstore. I especially wanted it to feel like the leaves had naturally collected everywhere, from the sidewalk and steps to the awning and window box.
The customization supplies quickly inspired me to start digging through my own miniature stash for even more things that could help tell the story. I added the black cat and other little pieces I already had, and even filled the tiny coffee cup with resin so someone could enjoy a cup of coffee while browsing the books.
I didn’t want everything to look carefully placed. Fall is a little messy! I scattered and tucked the leaves into corners, along the walkway, around the displays and anywhere I thought the wind might naturally leave them.
What I enjoyed most about this customization was watching the original Corner Bookstore turn into a place that felt like it was actually experiencing autumn. The more I added, the more ideas I had, and I started pulling pieces from my own miniature stash that seemed like they belonged there.
I wanted it to feel warm, lived-in and a little playful, like you could stop by on a crisp fall afternoon, browse the books, enjoy a cup of coffee and perhaps discover that a black cat had claimed the bookstore before you arrived.
What started as adding a few seasonal touches became my own little fall day at the bookstore, and that’s exactly what I love about customizing miniatures.
This is such a beautiful autumn transformation! I love how naturally you scattered the leaves around the bookstore instead of making everything look too perfectly placed. The little black cat and the tiny coffee cup are such lovely details too. It really feels like a cozy fall afternoon at a bookstore that you could actually walk into.
