Not sure I’m in the right place for the contest I can’t get my video to work but here goes
After building more than 60 kits, nearly everything I make now ends up with some personal touch. Some changes are small, while others completely transform the original model.
The ROKR AM601 Orpheus is not the most heavily customized kit I have built, but it may be one of the most important to me because it was the beginning of that journey.
At the time, I simply used a set of acrylic markers to add color. I did not even color the exposed edges, and the work is much simpler than what I would attempt today. Even so, it showed me how much a model could change once I stopped treating the instructions as the final word and started making my own choices.
I still love this little music box. I like the song, the colors, the steampunk design, and the way all the moving parts work together. After all this time and many more elaborate builds, it remains one of my favorites.
This was the model that showed me what was possible, and every customized build I have made since started here.
I also did this one a long time ago. It wasn’t the first one I customized but I’ve done over a hundred since then. I thought he was pretty cool as well. You did a great job. Here is mine
lol at the color challenged guy who has to ask his wife to check before he paints telling you he likes the colors. I may not see all the colors but I know what I like!
