As we’re starting to have warmer days here in Tahoe, I’ve decided to make my mini blue lake aka Lake Tahoe-the home of the second biggest lake in the US.
I used the sand from Regan beach in South Lake Tahoe to create the shoreline.
I made the large rocks using polymer clay and painted them. Lake water is made of resin. I used blue, white and green pigments to capture the colors of Tahoe.
Using actual sand from Regan Beach is such a special touch! It really grounds the whole piece in reality. The way you mixed the blue, white, and green pigments in the resin perfectly captures that deep, crystal-clear Tahoe water. It’s more than just a model now, it’s a beautiful tribute to your home. Absolutely stunning work!
Your 3D looks so realistic with the blue, green and white color gradient. This bright blue reminds me a big lake in the south of France, in Provence. The lake of Saint-Croix, close to the Verdon gorges, is magnificent and the water so clear.
Thank you so much! California has been my home since last year and I just love living in this mountain town. The lake needed recognition thus this miniature.
