The setting you’ve created is very realistic!

I admit I love that you aged the temple. That gives it a more realistic look. For painting consider the marker paints that are pointy for more detail. Take your time, I think you will do fine and if something botches up, add paint and go again. It is going to look awesome. Those figurines look to work perfectly!
