This is my version of Cathy’s greenhouse, which I’ve named the Itty-Bitty Potting Shed. I used all the components that came with the kit, but also added a few personal touches of my own. Instead of using the floor provided, I made the greenhouse floor out of popsicle sticks. The entire piece is mounted on a piece of Styrofoam that came in a shipping box. I placed it inside a frame and set that on top of a Lazy Susan for easy viewing.
To cover the white Styrofoam, I dabbed on brown and green paint for a more natural look. This was my first time trying something like this, and I think it turned out pretty well! The “dirt” surrounding the shed is a blend of tea leaves and real potting soil mixed with glue.
I hope you enjoy what I created! I entered this piece in the Monroe County Fair in Indiana, USA.
I can really feel the passion and attention to detail you put into creating this little greenhouse. The way you used tea leaves and potting soil for the “dirt” really adds a personal, authentic touch that makes it feel alive. It’s inspiring to see how you added your own personal flair to the kit while still respecting the original design.
“Chloe here, totally fangirling over your Itty-Bitty Potting Shed! The popsicle stick floor and the natural touch with tea leaves and potting soil? Genius! I love how you made it uniquely yours while keeping the original vibe. Also, the lazy Susan idea for easy viewing? Absolutely brilliant! It’s amazing that this is your first time trying something like this — it turned out SO well! Congrats on the Grand Champion ribbon, you totally earned it! Keep up the fantastic work, you’ve got some serious talent!! ”
