Fantasy themed kits will almost always catch my attention, and this little magic shop definitely did that. Potion bottles, glowing lights, floating stars, books, and mysterious little details sounded right up my alley. There are still parts of the finished build that I really like, especially the little oil lamp and the cozy shelf areas. I also ended up adding a 3D printed planter with greenery because the front corner felt like it needed a little extra life.
At the same time, this became the most difficult miniature kit I have actually pushed through and finished. A lot of the process felt very old school compared to modern kits. There was a huge amount of manually gluing paper onto surfaces, bending wire pieces by hand, and wiring separate LEDs and wires together. I eventually swapped in pre wired LEDs because I could not get the original setup to cooperate the way I wanted. Even simple structural pieces often needed a surprising amount of glue because the fit was not very precise.
I found myself only working on this kit in short stretches because it became more frustrating than relaxing at times. But since this was a birthday gift from my husband, I was determined to see it through to the end.
In the end, I do think the finished shop still has a neat fantasy atmosphere, and this build really made me appreciate how refined and builder friendly many newer miniature kits have become over the years.
Have you ever had a miniature kit that completely tested your patience but you still felt determined to finish it? Or are you someone who is willing to set a frustrating build aside and move on to something more enjoyable?
