Hey guys! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Just wanted to share a little build update for Emily’s flower shop. I work a 4 on, 4 off schedule and head back to work tonight, but here is what I’ve done over the past 4 days!
Overall I think a pretty productive 4 days off… I think I’m done all the big furniture and am really just working on accessory’s now. Here are some close-ups of all the pieces I had the most fun building!
As you guys can see, I’m a bit of a sadist and enjoy the challenge of the wire furniture . I’m hoping to get all the accessory’s and some of the plants done on my next days off and am so excited to share my next update with you all! It’s been really nice to find this community and have people to share my favourite hobby with!
I use B-7000 glue for pretty much everything, you can find it on Amazon. They come in little tubes with a needle tip applicator. The glue grabs right away but stays soft enough to make adjustments for a while after application. This glue really upped my game of not getting glue everywhere!
Some other tips:
Make sure your measurements are correct, double check them.
Roll the wire on a flat surface while applying pressure with your fingers to straighten it out.
When making bends, try to bend the wire only as much as necessary, the more you bend the wire, the more wonky it gets.
Have the right tools for the job, such as tiny pliers, side cutters, a good ruler, etc.
Make sure you’re bending the wire in the same place. Let’s say you’re making a handle, and you’ve measured the wire at both ends. If you bend before your measurement line on one end, but then bend on the measurement line or after the line on the other end, than your ends won’t be the same.. so be careful with where exactly you’re placing your pliers at your measurements when your bending.
Your wire work is absolutely perfection its the straightest wire work i have ever seen! Amazing!
I hope your next 4 days back at work go quickly for you!
You have done an amazing job on that furniture. I am so happy that mine did not come with wire furniture. The plants alone are a ton of work. I wish you the best on the rest of your build. Thank you for all of those tips in case I come across a project that has a lot of wire to do.
You did awesome! I think my favorite part is making the props so to speak. I feel so accomplished.
I am not a wire fan and now I know why. Mine would not look half as good as yours does! Great work!
Everything is looking so good! You’ve done an amazing job with the furniture — it all looks so neat and detailed. I really like how well everything is turning out, you can tell you’ve put so much care into it!
Wow thank you! That’s means a lot! It’s night shift this week, and night shift is usually pretty chill, so it won’t be too bad, but yes, I hope it goes by fast too, so I can get back to building!!!
Thank you! yes, plants are always tedious and a lot of work, I’m definitely nervous for the 8 pages straight of plants I have coming up. but at least it’s a bunch of different plants with different techniques rather than a bunch of one plant. I hate it when I have to hand cut 17 grasses back to back
Wow! Your furnitures look amazing. I initially thought those wires came with the kit pre-cut and bended. You did such a great job on them. Looking forward to your next update.
Hi @Atropex
That’s wonderful! Many people here also enjoy those more challenging builds because they’re relaxing and give such a great sense of accomplishment when finished.
Do you have any other craft hobbies like needle felting, knitting, or other kinds of DIY projects? We’d really love to see more of your creations!
