My husband has been talking about building a ship for a long time, looking for one for a long time, this morning he said he finally found one he liked for like a good prize, so asked me to order it for him
@Sofie_Vanderbeken well now your gonna have to get him the other two as well lol
@Grey74 the second picture is the box it will be in, i would like a ship in a bottle one day
@Sofie_Vanderbeken thats cool hun ! ![]()
My grandfather used to make ships in bottles and in large light globes too. They looked amazing.
I have my first ship that I started 6 months ago. I am up to planking the hull, so I didn’t get very far before I discovered the miniatures we all love. I will get back to it one of these days. They are so much more involved and shaping and bending the individual hull planks into shape is a real b@#ch
the deck was also a real challenge as it is a single board that has a downward curve from port to starboard and an upward curve from bow to stern. The it also gets deck planking that also has to follow that same shape. I know some model ship builders take up to 2 years to finish some of their builds.
This one is very pretty. I think @GWVan60 may have done this one. He has done several ships
This is so cool! Nice to see other kits here too
There is a FB group called Wooden Ship Model Builders. Paul Bird does some AMAZING work there. Are you a member of that group? If so, you should check out his work. @chamelionboy https://www.facebook.com/groups/520157015499544
This shop is so nice @Sofie_Vanderbeken
Yes I am in that group. There is some truly incredible and complex ship builds. It blows my mind the extraordinary level of detail of some of those builders. I mean some of them even make their own miniature rope…actual woven rope…to keep true to historical accuracy. It’s incredible.
That’s really nice, my dad loves ships, planes, trains and tanks - though he builds the tiny metal models
Our windowsills are overrun with all his models
Does the kit come with the base plate for displaying it on too? Can’t wait to see some progress photos
Paul Bird is the BEST that I have seen.
That’s so cute. thank for share
It looks fabulous! Good for him.
That’s great! If you like it, that’s wonderful.
Oh.. this looks so cool @Sofie_Vanderbeken !
Looking forward to seeing this built! ![]()
