Whimsical Thursday 8 & Global Festival Activity 4 | A World Where Stories Characters Come Alive ✨

:sparkles: Hey everyone! Whimsical Thursday is back!

When World Book Day meets Whimsical Thursday… :books::sparkles:
it’s time for a story-filled, imaginative adventure.

:tada: Whimsical Thursday — where imagination takes the lead!

Every Thursday, we bring you a fun and creative prompt. No limits, no pressure… just share your ideas and let your creativity shine :sparkles:

:open_book: About World Book and Copyright Day

World Book and Copyright Day, also known as World Book Day, was established by UNESCO in 1995 and is celebrated annually on April 23. :books:

Its mission is to encourage people around the world, regardless of age, wealth, or health, to enjoy the pleasure of reading, to recognize and appreciate the great contributions of writers, thinkers, and creators to human civilization, to promote the protection of intellectual property rights.

:performing_arts: This week’s challenge:

If characters from a book stepped into your mini world… what would happen?

  • Maybe Anne Shirley wanders into your café… :hot_beverage:
  • Maybe Harry Potter finds a quiet corner in your bookstore… :magic_wand:
  • Maybe Sherlock Holmes starts investigating your tiny street… :magnifying_glass_tilted_left:

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Which character would appear?
:backhand_index_pointing_right: How would they interact with your world?

Would it be magical, chaotic, cozy… or completely unexpected? :eyes::sparkles:

:artist_palette: How to participate:

Share your idea in any creative way you like:

  • :writing_hand: Write a short story or
  • :camera_with_flash: Show your build + imagined character or
  • :artist_palette: Draw the scene or
  • :robot: Generate an AI visual or
  • :thought_balloon: Or simply describe your idea in a few lines

There’s no right or wrong answer, only imagination.

:herb: Example:

“In my tiny bookstore :books:, Harry Potter suddenly walks in.

At first, everything seems perfectly normal.
He’s simply looking for a quiet place to rest, drawn in by the warm light and the rows of old books.

Then, as he reaches for one particular book on the shelf, it suddenly slips out of his hand and floats gently back into place.
More books begin to tremble, their pages turning by themselves as if something inside the store is responding to him.

Harry frowns slightly and raises his wand.
“Lumos,” he whispers.

A soft glow fills the bookstore, and hidden symbols begin to appear faintly on the spines of the books.
He realizes this isn’t just an ordinary shop…
it’s a place where magic has been quietly hiding.

In the end, Harry smiles, lowers his wand, and chooses a book that finally stays still in his hands.

As he leaves, the light fades, the shelves settle, and everything returns to normal.

But from that day on, the bookstore feels different…
as if a little bit of magic has decided to stay.” :sparkles:

:glowing_star: Let’s see what happens when stories step into your worlds.

We can’t wait to see your creativity this Whimsical Thursday :books::sparkles:

:cherry_blossom: Mini‑story: The Wait Beneath the Cherry Blossoms

The little geisha, named Hana, arrived at the platform long before the green train appeared between the cables and the cherry trees. She held her parasol with both hands—not to shield herself from the sun, which barely touched the morning—but to calm the fluttering nerves in her chest.

That train was special.

Weeks earlier, a young craftsman who always traveled in the front carriage had given her a small wooden figurine, saying it reminded him of her. Since then, Hana came every day at the same hour, hoping to see him again. She didn’t know his name or where he came from, but she knew his smile had been stamped on her heart like a seal.

Today, as pink petals fell like sweet snow, Hana felt the train approaching. And for the first time, she wasn’t afraid of waiting—she was certain he would return too.

A newly opened secondhand bookstore sits on the street corner. An old clock ticks away the seconds, reminding us of the past, that it’s never too late to read and learn.

For this Whimsical Thursday, I imagine a cat story opening inside my Free Time Bookshop and two very special characters stepping right out of it: Alvin and Bochi.

Alvin would be the serious little inspector, carefully watching every shelf and every book as if he were the true owner of the shop. Bochi, on the other hand, would bring the chaos and the charm, climbing onto the display, curling up next to the books, and acting like the coziest bookstore cat in the world.

I think they would make the whole mini world feel even warmer and more alive. A tiny bookshop full of stories, with two fluffy cats in it, sounds like pure happiness to me . Happy World Book Day or Sant Jordi in Catalonia!

I would love to imagine my dog on the Titanic. Of course, this time it wouldn’t sink. I have a feeling she would enjoy exploring all the rooms and feeling the ocean spray on the top deck.
