How cool! I cross stitch too and am doing a (different) SAL as well!
My crafting habit is really all about comfort! I set up in my recliner in the family room with a lap table so I can keep my feet up and still be in the same space as my husband. I even keep my lap tray on a stand right next to me so it’s easy to set aside and get up when I need to. ![]()
I don’t need music or a specific playlist to get in the zone — sometimes the TV is on, sometimes I’ve got an audiobook going from the library, and sometimes it’s just quiet. Any of those work for me!
There’s always some kind of snack within reach — and my Coke Zero in my BrüMate cup is a must so there are no spills anywhere near my build. ![]()
Comfort is everything, and once I’m settled in I can focus on my Rolife miniature one tiny piece at a time. And if I need a little motivation, I just glance over at my finished builds on display — it’s a great reminder of how far each little kit comes! ![]()
What is SAL exactly? Do they have other hobbies?
@Tkaplan SAL (Stitch-A-Long) is a collaborative project where participants stitch the same design, usually released in parts (weekly/monthly) by a designer, allowing crafters to share progress, maintain motivation, and build community. It is a modern, social version of traditional embroidery gatherings, often featuring “mystery” elements
That’s got to be the most comfy work station! lol. Where did you get the puck lights in your display shelves? Everything I have found is too big.
They are from IKEA called KAPPLAKE. I have one here in my town. The only drawback I say about them is that I wanted to have them on Wi-Fi controlled timer, but since they push on, you, can’t turn them on and off by power cycling so I just leave them on all the time.
Yeah that was fun. I struggled with the box where the balls and the cut parts go into. Hope to get to assembly soon
I love this activity!![]()
When I craft, I usually put on calm music in the background, something soft and relaxing. It really sets the mood depending on the time of day. If it’s afternoon or evening, I sometimes have a little snack nearby too.
Most of the time, I’m not really thinking about anything specific. I just focus on what I’m building and enjoy the moment. It’s my little bubble of peace.
I went to his concert but just one of thousands of fans. He won’t see me
But I successfully sent him a miniature cafe and he did mention in one interview, he got a touching gift which was a miniature. So I assumed he referred to that ![]()
I will go to his concert in coming March.
@Kim_Kieffer so they are individual ant not linked together?
Being that I just finished the Glittering Water Lilies one, it was time to take a look around and straighten up a bit. I am making the super creators for my Granddaughter so I did not want to display downstairs. I am keeping them in my craft room for now, but they were scattered. I cleaned up an area and will be setting them there.
Sometimes music but usually quiet.
Coffee, water, or wine are drinks of choice. Not usually snacks.
I find this usually so peaceful that time gets away from me. Hours go by! Some of you think I build fast. I actually do not, I just have a lot of time to do this!
I know when I am done I will once again have a peaceful area!
@Kycso that’s so awesome that someone famous has something you made him! Good job!
Thanks , I am thrilled when I heard that🥰
I craft best when I give my full attention and focus but sometimes I like a Little soft music in the background or a TV playing some thing so that there is noise but not loud. Usually though there is always something going on and I just craft amongst the chaos.
Crafting among the chaos is a perfect description of what we all do. We all have some sort of chaos in our lives at different times. This hobby is nice for diffusing that! ![]()
Correct. I got a mini USB hub and have them all connected together that way, and then plugged into the wall.
I may have asked but any way you can take a picture of the back of themn hooked up? I would love to flip a switch and they light up all at once.
Yes, it is @Tkaplan . It’s just a cheap TEMU build…something I got to get to that free shipping limit…LOL! A treehouse.
Also pictured - lentil chips, my on-hand snack.
