Since I am a huge fan of Nanci dolls, I thought, why not come up with some concepts for new Nanci? (Not for official series for sale, but just for my own interest) Of course, I am not a concept artist by education, but I am an illustrator who often has to think through the appearance of characters. I love to come up with interesting characters inspired by various things. Each new character gets their own story explaining why they look the way they do.
Let me tell you about my characters
Cicada is calm and reasonable. She loves to sing and perform on stage. Her hairstyle is two low buns with artificial braids attached. In her costume, you will notice details that remind us of her concept. Translucent cicada wings adorn her jumpsuit (this is not a dress), shoes and cover her back. Above her head is a golden halo with a star in the center, signifying her desire to be ahead of everyone.
Rosy Maple Moth attracts with its brightness. Like her outfit, she radiates energy that fills everyone and makes them feel warm in the heart. On her shoulders is a cape in the form of wings, which warms her in cold weather, and on her legs are high boots and leg warmers. This fashionista also loves to wear hats and gather her hair in high hairstyles.
Bumblebee is a girl in a wide jumpsuit. On her head she has a black headband with antennae. On her feet she has rubber boots and on her hands she has gloves for working in the garden. As you might have guessed, her hobby is gardening. She loves to take care of flowers and give them her love and care.
Let’s meet three more Nanci from my fan-made Insect Series!
Ladybug – This mischievous girl works as a seller at an ice cream stand. Every customer who comes for a scoop of delicious ice cream also leaves filled with compliments and Ladybug’s bright smile.
Metallic Blue Tarantula – A knitter and a very creative soul. Her specialty is lace weaving, which she then uses to decorate her clothes and her home.
Orchid Mantis – Staff of a teahouse. Her main task is creating a cozy atmosphere and brightening up the guests’ everyday lives. She adores poetry and could talk about it forever.
The design of these Nancis was inspired by insects, namely Cicada, Rosy Maple Moth and Bumblebee. I was also inspired by existing figures from the series: Rolife Baby Nanci Fluffy Party and Rolife Nanci’s Flower Stories
Again, this is just my fantasy and desire to try myself as a designer. These are not official arts, but just my ideas. I adore Nanci and soon my first figure will arrive to me. I am waiting for it with great impatience ![]()
