Pro Tip-keep those spare parts and boards

The current build is going well. Today was Electrics Day plus more detailed painting. Currently at 197 hours into my long build project.

Electrics - will be adding to the build three micro on/off push type switches after the hidden distribution block. These switches will be 100% concealed behind fixed wall panels and operated independently to control six different lighting runs. The push buttons will be accessed via a push rod that will be manually inserted into three 2mm diameter holes that will be drilled into the fixed wall panels.

This why I never throw away any spare or unused components nor the boards that use to hold the components. Today developed the switch mounting plates, went through the bags of left over parts and built the switch plates. Simple black felt tip pen to black them out and they are now added to the growing list of parts ready for the vertical build start coming soon.

Left over parts and boards are like gold, keep every piece, one never knows what is needed next as you customize your build. Cheers to every builder out there, have fun with building these amazing 3D puzzles.

I’m exactly the same—I keep all the empty component boards too! You never know when one of those little ‘useless’ leftovers will become the perfect solution for a future part of the build, especially when you start customizing.

@Joe-K magic! Hidden push-rod switches are such a clever solution to keep the wiring completely concealed. You’re so spot on about keeping all the spare parts and wooden boards—they always come in handy! 197 hours in wow thats pure dedication! :+1::+1::+1:

I definitely save my leftover and extra pieces, I just know I’ll have a use of them someday for a diy craft project

@Joe-K excellent point!! I keep leftovers in a separate bin in case of emergencies!! It’s saved me countless times already!

I save all the leftovers from all the kits, hahaha—you never know.

I keep a lot of them…but not ALL of them. Some are just too specific to a certain model.

That’s great that you still have your spare parts and boards. I only store spare parts, maybe I’ll also save some boards next time because I’ll never know when those will become useful one day :smiling_face:

Yes l keep all spare bits but l think I’m going to have to be a bit more selective.. running out os space…lol

I love how you’re turning leftover parts and boards into useful custom components, it really shows how creativity can transform even the smallest scraps into something valuable. Wow, you’ve spent so much time on this build! Keeping spare parts is definitely important. I keep all of mine too!

Im the same way, I have a little bin all the extras get tossed into with hopes of some day being organized.
