*The house sits alone for years. Waiting for its next occupants. The decay of the home still cannot hide the beauty of what it once was. The furniture and children’s toys remain… or stay by choice? The scarecrow a reminder of more bountiful times, now sits alone among dried grass and detritus of its surroundings. Vines have started to take over and yet, inside, the power still works. The fireplace flickers, still wanting to give warmth to its owners. Yet no one is there.. or is there? *
I finished my project and I couldn’t be more proud. The glow in the dark was necessary for the vision I had. The building of a beautiful home and then the aging and destroying is actually quite fun. As many of us know lol.
Modifications: dirty wash on the outside walls, 3D printed the scarecrow, and ghost then painted them. Covered in glow in the dark paints. Dust was created using chalk and air brushing it slightly gray and sprinkled around the floors. I didn’t use the flowers included in the kit as they just wouldn’t work. So I opted for dried grass and dried flowers. Not evident in the photos but I peeled the wallpaper as well. I added mold and moss to the exterior in the crannies where it would normally accumulate. Broke a couple windows as well but may not be evident on the photos.
I would recommend this kit whole heartedly! It’s a nice long build, not a lot of DIY but lots of gluing objects together.

The story you’ve written to go with it makes the whole thing even better. Wanting to give warmth to its owners, even though nobody seems to be there… that’s creepy! And the question at the end, “Yet no one is there… or is there?” 
And the transformation you’ve done on this house is wonderful. It really does look like a once-beautiful home that’s been left to decay for years. I especially like how you’ve kept the inside warm and inviting with the fireplace still glowing, while the outside looks so neglected. Then you hit it with the blacklight and reveal the ghosts!
I completely agree about the enjoyment of building something beautiful and then deliberately aging it and making it look like it’s falling apart. 
There’s something really satisfying about taking a perfectly good kit and thinking, right, now how can I f*** this up . Most people spend their time trying to keep things looking new, and here we are happily adding dirt, cracks, mould and cobwebs!
