Not really a fan of Alice in Wonderland…but I can truly appreciate the story and wonderment behind this build. Very nice!

It is nice to read the story behind the build. I’ve never made a book nook before, but if I were to build one this would be my favorite

The building techniques feel sturdier. Additionally they feel purpose driven…the order of operations feels specifically oriented towards the purpose of building a solid object…each subsequent step makes sense.

Additionally, the quality of the physical materials feels improved. I have always been a fan that rolife seems to be the one manufacturer that uses materials of different thicknesses to accomplish a more detailed finished product, but in the past some of the wood veneer sheets were so thin, they fell off the runners on their own…not so in this case.

The convex laser cutting was nice, because it leaves recessed burrs which, for amateur builders reduces the work of shaving/sanding.

The use of double sided tape strips to supplement glue use is a really neat concept. I think for the strength of the strips themselves, they are overutilized (i had to supplement with glue in a few places) but its a great innovation,

Also, I loved how you guys handled the stacks of books in this kit. Rather than building dozens of individual books. Both the stacks with one decal on the outside and the cardstock boxes. (However the layout of the boxes had the seams directly in view when placed)

The electronics were an obvious upgrade as well, from the toggle switch, to the integrated circuit board, to the awesome usb-c alternative to the alkaline battery box.

Critiques: The card stock used for the mushrooms and foliage is understandably thin. Because of this, and the early placement, it is not difficult to bend/break some of them. I’d consider duplicates on the sheet for some of the ones around the base.

All in all…it definitely is a significant step forward for book nook construction.

I love these posts. I really admire the imagination of the designers and their ability to create such amazing things like this book nook. I still find the movement effect incredible, and how, with just a quick glance, even if you’re not a big fan of the book, you can tell it’s Alice in Wonderland and still find it charming.
