[Collection] Finding a Balance Between Building and Collecting

I was looking at my shelf today and realized something…

Other than 3 display cabinets filled with miniatures, a couple of pieces placed around the house, I have these three book nooks proudly displayed among my stash of Rolife kits. Every time I see them, they remind me why I love this hobby—but they also remind me that I still have quite a few adventures waiting in their boxes. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Compared to some collections I’ve seen in the community, my collection and my stash isn’t very big. But I feel it’s reached the point where I’m trying to slow down on buying new kits. Not because I don’t want them (Robotime keeps releasing beautiful ones! :joy:), but because space is becoming precious, and these kits are an investment.

I’m reminding myself to enjoy the journey, one build at a time, and appreciate the kits I already have before adding more to the shelf.

So I’m curious… Do you prefer finishing one kit before buying another, or do you enjoy having a little stash ready for whenever inspiration strikes? I think I know the answer, but I’d like to hear from you, too.

I always finish my current kit before buying a new one. But lately, work has made me buy faster than I do. And also because Robotime releases so many new models.

I buy, and I stock up. But I’m using so much time on each kit, so my second hobby is to buy the kits :sweat_smile:

@Gidge I normally will get another lot the closer I get to finishing a current one. I used to have a stack of them but I got burned out pretty easy always building one after another.

@Gidge i dont have a big stash i buy when i can or look for offers … theres so many lovley kits out there and new realeses !

I have a huge stash. My husband says I’m addicted but I have slowed down my purchases. I call it my retirement fund.

I have a massive stash, at this rate I’ll be in a retirement home before I get caught up :laughing: :rofl:

I have never been one o purchase a lot of kits to keep as a stash…but lately since I have been enjoying the DIY stuff, if I see something I really want, I will buy it for fear oof not being able to find that kit in the future. As far as space goes …Well, they have just taken over every nook and cranny.

I currently have a massive stash, 25 kits so I’m on a build three buy one plan for myself to whittle it down. I’m mostly worried about where the kits end up at this point so I don’t buy unless I have a destination for the finished product. Don’t get to know me too well or you will get a model as a gift :slight_smile:

It’s the same for me. The only reason I buy is for fear that stocks might run out. Hence, the growing collection of unfinished kits.

Wow, @GWVan60 25 kits is a lot. I only have around 10 unopened kits. :sweat_smile:

If you’ve slowed down with your purchases, it means there’s hope for me, too :rofl: I’m trying my best to steer clear of places selling miniatures for now … at least until I run out of kits to build

That is a nice stash @GWVan60 . I have about 10 in my stash, but many are complete DIY which take about 2 weeks to do. I had to find a way to slow down. Even painting very kit didn’t slow me down enough. I am right at about 135ish kits completed.

I’m doing the same, buying because I’m afraid its getting sold out :sweat_smile: Specially here in Norway, where its hard to find the kits.

I always have a stash ready, but I don’t start my kits until I find an inspiration to do so. Lately I find the joy of giving them a gifts so I can make some more room in my display shelves.
