I started the Bread Factory from another brand today. It’s a music box kit, which felt like a natural follow-up after completing Dream Coffee Factory. Since this is a level 5 of 5 difficulty rating, I had some expectations going in. What really drew me to this kit was the steam effect — it looks like smoke coming out of the bread oven, which is such a cool detail.
What I’m noticing:
The pictures in the instruction book look like photographs, but they’re illustrations — and they’re not 100% accurate in a few places. There are no power tests or checkpoint tests included in the instructions at all. Based on my experience with Dream Coffee Factory, I’ve been stopping to do a power check whenever I finish installing something that plugs into the circuit board. That’s where I stopped today — after everything was plugged in (though not fully installed yet), I did a power test and got success! I was also able to test the steam effect successfully.
This kit is missing some of the appropriate accessory tools that are needed for assembly. It’s missing the plastic spacer and the little tool needed to help install the plastic washers on the rivets. I had to pull both from previous kits. Those should definitely be included at this difficulty level.
I’m glad they included extra rounded slit pieces, because I broke one the first time I assembled it exactly as the instructions showed. I tried a different approach on the second one, and it worked much better for the bread oven piece. The instructions could’ve been clearer on that step.
On the bright side, everything is flat wood pieces (a nice change from my recent builds). I’m sanding the edges and using a walnut furniture marker to finish them, which gives a nice polished look. The film strip assembly is different from the Dream Coffee Factory method, so I’ll be watching how that holds up as I continue.
This is definitely not a beginner kit — it requires some problem-solving and existing tools/knowledge from past builds.
I have been seeing this in my feed and I find it really cute especially with the toast popping out. So I’m glad you posted about this. I will be following your journey about it.
And this is exactly why we never throw anything away! “I might need this random plastic spacer three years from now” is a thought that has finally paid off for you. It’s a bit of a plot twist that a Level 5 kit forgot the basics, but it sounds like you’re outsmarting the instructions anyway. That steam effect is going to be so worth the trouble! Freshly “baked” wood has never looked so good!
Thanks for sharing! I’ve never seen that kind of kit before but, indeed, it looks like an obvious follow-up after the Coffee one. I’m never too sure about buying kits from other brands specially mechanical ones, you never know. But I’m glad it’s working for you despite the issues you’ve found already! Maybe you can send your advices to the brand.
I saw this pop up recently, and the steam coming out of the oven is a nice addition to this build. The great thing about Robotime kits is that everything has been thought of, even tools that make building easier. Luckily, you saved some, and it is coming in handy again now
