[Beginner Tips] Gonna be my first time with gears 😁😅

I need to pause my Sakura Densya for now. I’m waiting for the replacement part which will arrive 10-12 days later.

I was in a mood to challenge myself. I have decided to tackle something with gears. I was inspired by some members to go try it out.

Everything is going well. I am as careful as ever. I am surprised that I was building quick enough.

Wax wax wax.. I read it numerous times, so I made sure to wax, wax, wax.
Thanks Ms @Jill_Francisco for answering my SOS. I appreciate it!

Any tips for a first time (feeling bold) newbie like me? Thanks in advance!

Definitely wax, wax, and more wax. Good luck and enjoy!

My advice is simply to use plenty of wax, test each step as you go, and pay attention to the gear joints.

@joy.licerio pausing Sakura Densya and choosing a geared build is a bold little upgrade. You are already doing the most important first-time gear habit: wax, test, and move patiently before forcing anything. Please keep us posted on how Sunset Carnival feels compared with your usual builds.

You will be just fine. Sanding before waxing is a step that can’t be missed either.

It’s looking really great so far! I hope your replacement part comes sooner rather than later. Excited to see your finished build! Happy building!

Waiting for replacement parts is the worst, but at least it gives you the perfect excuse to start another project. :joy:

This was a fun project for me, too - except for the creaking sound of the mechanism but i’ve come to accept that it’s part of the charm of a wooden kit. I hope you enjoy building this.

I think that’s the perfect way to make the waiting easier! :yellow_heart: A gear-driven build is such a fun challenge, and it’s always exciting to try something new. Before you know it, your replacement part will arrive and you’ll have two amazing builds to enjoy. Happy building!

Naubos ko na sya! ang kalat kalat nman pla nito!

Funny thing was that when I opened the box, I couldnt find the wax. I had to SOS to know where it is. I thought it was a cover for something, turns out it was the wax!

That’s why I had to go slower than the usual. I am so careful Lol! But I am enjoying every bit of it, well except for the mess.

I’m enjoying every bit of it. I have already installed the rubber attached to the Sky wheel and thankfully, I havent encountered any problems so far. What a relief!

Oh I dont sand.. oh my gee! I just wax way too much that I have ran out but I still have some to build. Tested every change and pray hard everything will be ok…

That’s great to hear. Congratulations!
