This is not a Robotime or Rolife kit, and out of respect for the company, I’m not naming the brand here. If you’re curious, it’s easy enough to find.
Today’s progress wasn’t really about step numbers. It was all about greenery, details, and making this little scene feel more alive.
The kit included a flat 2D printed board pieces for the large tree, and try to make it look 3-D with some dimensional piecesand you can actually see it in some of my earlier photos. I gave it a fair shot, but the more I looked at it, the more it just wasn’t working for me.
After seeing some inspiration over on Reddit, I decided to trust my gut and make a change. I dug out some clump foliage from my old D&D miniature painting supplies and rebuilt the tree with real texture, and for me it made the tree look about a hundred times better.
Of course once I had all that scenery material out, one change turned into several. I added some flowers, a few grass tufts, filled an empty basket with greenery, and even made a tiny little gold ring for one of the details.
At some point you have to know when to stop tweaking before one little change turns into ten more. I’ve currently got green stuff everywhere, so I’m calling it for tonight, letting everything dry, and with a little luck I should be wrapping this one up tomorrow.
This is one of those moments where a kit starts becoming less about following instructions and more about making it your own.
At what point do you decide a kit needs your own personal touch?
