Update 1 Magic Cello

Work has begun on the Magic Cello. The first part starts right away with many gears that all need to be waxed. I am simply using the wax stick that comes with the kit for this. The gears are supposed to represent the first sunflowers.

I’m stopping for now, tomorrow is another workday. I can’t wait until tomorrow evening so I can continue painting

Wow, I’ve never waxed before, is it easy?

Wax is the MOST important part of building any wooden model, especially when working with gears. You just rub the little stick of wax between all of the teeth and around the edges. @Sasa

I didn’t realize it was okay to paint the edges of the gears! I thought adding paint to them would interfere with how they mesh together, thanks for sharing!!

Waxing isn’t difficult. A wax stick is included that you can rub over the piece of wood. The only downside is that it crumbles a bit, but I put a piece of paper towel underneath and that way you can clean everything up quickly.

@Liset your painting skills are superb…looking forward to what you do with this one.

Thank you @Suzanne_Jones :hugs: You can’t see it very well in the photo, but it contains light green, dark green, and light blue. I think it looks nice with the yellow.

No this is the unpainted version, I find unpainted wood easier to paint

Thank you @Jill_Francisco :hugs: As you know, it takes a bit longer to finish when you start painting

Your welcome @Atropex. I have always painted the edges and never had any problems with it. You shouldn’t apply the paint too thickly. I applied 2 coats with a marker.

The colours are so perfect for sunflowers.
