This would make a great STEM/educational project

I’ve been working on this puzzle box LK502. First thing you do is build and code your own combination lock. I didn’t fully understand the instructions on how to code so I just started putting pieces together and hoped it would make sense as I went.

This turned out to be a good strategy. I was able to get the concept after tinkering and using trial and error to figure out out how to property code the combination lock. I feel like I gained a deep understanding of the inner workings of a combination lock in the process.

It is the ROKR Treasure Box. @Nectarines Fun build…a bit tricky, though.

Looking good. I got mine to work properly, but my niece was unsuccessful in setting her code properly so now she can’t open it. Hope yours works out well.

This one is not a music box @Tricia12

Wow that’s cool to be able to set the codes

Yes it is.. @Tricia12

It would be perfect for her. The Secret Garden music box is another one well suited for a young teen girl as well. @Nectarines It has like 5 or 6 compartments inside for earrings and such.

That’s awesome! Sometimes the best way to understand these mechanical builds is exactly that — just diving in and figuring it out as you go. It looks great, and it must feel so satisfying to actually see how the mechanism works once it clicks!

 sharing the addiction…uh (I mean love) …huh? @Nectarines

That’s great to know. Awesome.

Absolutely! Im clearing off the table today so they can start the marble run i got for them next week! I cant wait! :star_struck:

It’s the ROKR Treasure Box LK502

It’s been around for a while.

This one does not have music. It is meant to be a mechanical puzzle box that you have to put a combination in.

I tested the mechanism several times while installing to make sure I had the code correct. It can be very challenging.

Disappointing for your niece. :cry:It would be difficult to take apart to reconfigure without breaking it.

If they really like puzzles and tinkering, yes. This box has a couple more mechanisms besides the combination lock. I will be able to show the rest when it is finished in a day or two. So you can the entire thing.
