Stormy day activities

The tornados come and go…and we have probably about 10 or more tornado watches per year. Only 3 times in 13 years have they turned into a warning where I had to seek shelter immediately. They’re scary. Thanks for the compliment. I’ll post an update later today. Gotta get busy cooking for the Thanksgiving meal with family tomorrow. @Liset

It’s always exciting when the weather gets intense; you have no control over it, and it’s just a matter of waiting to see what happens.

I can’t wait for your next update either. :grin: Good luck with the cooking! What are you making? Have fun tomorrow!

Looking good! :heart: Building is definitely a good way to keep your mind busy! We just have snow here!

I don’t find tornados exciting at all…LOL! I’ll be making green bean casserole, deviled eggs, sweet potato casserole and pumpkin cheesecake. @Liset

My sis will have the smoked turkey, dressing, giblet gravy and rolls. There are usually about 16 of us. Today on my FB memories, it showed a pic at my cousins house for Thanksgiving. There were 57 people there. @Jerry_Boswijk

@Liset @Nita_Davis
we get tornados by us. few minutes warning if lucky. They have flattened whole towns. One about 45 minutes from me and looking at what happened in Tennessee.

I always complain about the cold and rainy weather here in the Netherlands, but I’m still glad there aren’t any tornadoes here. Hopefully, it stays calm where you are too.

This time of year is pretty safe from tornados

Yes, a few minutes warning is all that you get and still you never know if the path is going to change. They’re so unpredictable @jeanneL

They truly are very scary and unpredictable

That most be terrifying. Do you have a shelter of something

You shelter in place when these ‘watches’ turn into warnings. You just pray for the best. I cover myself with a comforter and hide in the shower as it is best to be away from windows, etc. I’ve seen them take out entire small towns and sometimes hit one side of a street and destroy 4 houses while the other side of the street has no damage at all. Like an earthquake somewhat because you really can’t prepare for it. @Jerry_Boswijk

They have always scared me. As a child we had a basement which we went into. One year, August 1990, I was 7 months pregnant and driving down the highway with my 5 year old son. Reports came on that said Pull Over, Take cover! As I said I was 7 months pregnant where was I going to go? Lay in a ditch with my big tummy, trying to hold my son? I kept driving and hopefully out of its path. It took a turn, thankfully for me and headed south where it proceeded to wipe out much of Planefield. Horrible devastation. Will never forget that day

That is a horrifying story. You are very fortunate because those things pick and choose a path on their own. @jeanneL

That sounds scary. I felt a earthquake once on holiday and that was fearfull even do it only lasted 10 seconds or so.
