Starting Henry's chocolade shop

Started with Henry’s chocolade shop this weekend

Wanted to try my paint markers. The red is more a flat red instead of a ferrari red as i had hoped but it will have to do.

I do love the green. After using it on 3 plain wooden furnishings it stopped working correctly. Need to soak the tip in water and then it will work for a while and then i need to repeat it.

Hope to have more time this week.

Oh how exciting, you’re just getting started on Henry’s chocolate shop — what a fun build that’s going to be!! :chocolate_bar: The pieces you’ve done so far are looking really great in the pictures! I was curious — are the markers you’re using ones with a nib or a brush tip? I ask because I’ve personally had such a better experience with acrylic markers that have a brush tip versus the nib style. The nib ones (especially the kind where you have to press the tip up and down over and over just to get the paint flowing) can be SO frustrating and make it really hard to control how much paint comes out. The brush tip markers are amazing because the paint just flows out on its own naturally — no pumping required! They give you so much more control and make painting those tiny details way less stressful. Just wanted to share in case it helps as you keep going! Can’t wait to see this one come together! :artist_palette:

it is a brush tip indeed. as the wood is very dry and a bit ruff i think it affects the tip. the water makes the tip soft again and then the paint will flow again.

Will the red come up brighter if you do another coat or mix it with another red colour? I’ve found that when I’m matching colours for my builds they give a different colour when they are applied to the wood. I’m thinking of doing white undercoats on some items to see if that helps.

i did several coats but the board was already pre painted white so the paint also chips off easily. i did sand it but that didn;t help. i dont have a other colour red so this will have to be it. but the green is also a flat colour and nog bright so i am hoping it will go together in the end.

I hope it works out for you Jerry. I’m sure that once everything is together then it’s going to look wonderful. The flat red is nice though. I was just making suggestions because yuh were hoping for Ferrari red.

I love the sagey green color. Did you do something to the top of that little cabinet to make it look like granite? It looks really cool

ow no, i just used white paint markers and i dried up this way. i later found some white paint i had left from the elegant study and painted some white over it but it still looks a lot like this. it gives a feeling of the counter beeing used. it had a brown sticker to place on top of it but i didnt like it. so i decided to colour it

I like the way it looks!

It looks great. The color change has made it brighter.

@Jerry_Boswijk Henry’s chocolade honestly reminds me of Tony’s chocolonely :joy:

That stinks that your marker is acting up. I haven’t had that problem…might be the brand you’re using? Hopefully it’s just that marker and not the whole set.
Can’t wait to see what you customize on the rest of the build. Looks good so far.

The red color does indeed look a bit flat, but I don’t find it bothersome. I’ll check which red I have and what number it is. I found a website where you can buy these markers separately.the green counter looks great.

Sadly a non-painter like myself can’t give you any advices regarding the kind of paint you’re using, but what you’ve done looks good enough for me! Even if that wasn’t the specific red you were expecting.

How about adding a clear nail polish, does that going to look a Ferrari red, or still nah? What do you think?

Very excited to see the result on this one - I did this kit recently and didn’t change anything. Can’t wait to see how all of your great changes make the shop shine.
