Sometimes You Just Need a Different Kit: Poinsettia Time

I was just chatting with @Nita_Davis, and it turns out we’re both struggling with our current kits. They’ve officially become “the projects that are staring at us from across the room.”

Kiki’s Magic Emporium is still sitting at halfway… or less, but honestly, it’s one of those builds that needs time, calm, and many, many brain cells… and right now mine are all busy with end-of-term reports, prepping next Saturday’s meetup, and writing updates about my students’ kits. So nope, my head is just noooot in the right place for Kiki at the moment.

So we said: what if we just… switch kits for a bit? Break the cycle, reset the brain, and build something different to reconnect with the fun?

That’s exactly what happened to me with Santa on Sleigh the other day, and it worked perfectly.

And here comes my new moment of peace and disconnection: my beautiful Poinsettia.

Perfect for the season, perfect for display, and extremely important information, NOT toxic for cats. Every cat owner here understands why this point deserves capital letters!!!

I don’t know yet if I’ll feel like painting it a bit… but seeing how my brain is functioning these days, I highly doubt it. We’ll see! :joy:

This will be my very first Poinsettia, and I’m so ready for the cozy vibes.

What do you think of this plan?

Here we are, cheering each other on, that’s the spirit!!! Good luck with your kit too, @Nita_Davis! And you know the funny part? It’s midnight here and I’m exhausted from the whole day. I’ve already taken the plastic off the kit, and tomorrow it’ll be the very first thing I do when I wake up, even before grading and giving out marks like a crazy person. I’m really going to need it. :joy: :joy:

The poinsettia is a really nice chill build!! It was one of the builds I did during my many breaks while I was building Emily’s flower shop! The end result is just beautiful too! I have mine sitting in the middle of my coffee table with other Christmas related stuff!! Have fun!:blush:

That’s a great plan @Wenbare

We sometimes need to take a break for our brains to reset. I usually build flowers to reset. Remember the Nanci’s Sakura Study room I was building? That has been in a corner for quite some time now :joy: Hopefully next year I will be able to get back to it.

Have fun building your Poinsettia :christmas_tree:

Oh 100% you need a break from difficult builds especially if you’re customising. I think we want to enjoy the hobby and crafting and not filled burned out by it lol. This definitely feels like a nice and easy one!

You’re so right. Sometimes our brains just need a reset, even from kits that drain us too much.
It’s the first time I’ve ever left a kit halfway to switch to something easier or less time-consuming. I feel like I’m betraying Kiki :smiling_face_with_tear::woman_facepalming:t2:

Exactly!! We should enjoy the hobby, not get burned out by it. This one already feels so relaxing compared to my current “brain-melter” kit. Thank you, @JDisaduck!!

Also, I play games too!! Heheh.
Omg, wire work… when it doesn’t cooperate it’s the worst. I like it, but it’s also one of the most frustrating things ever :joy:

It is!!! I love cozy games because they help me disconnect my brain and just enjoy things at a calm pace. One I’ve been playing lately in that style is Disney Dreamlight Valley. I also play a lot of online games with a friend. We play horror games, but only because we laugh so hard at each other’s nonsense that it actually ends up being great for lifting our spirits. :joy:

Good girl! no pressure to complete these things immediately! It is ok to step away. I did that with Cathys flower house. I could not twist and make One More Flower! I completed Henrys Chocolate shop instead. then went back to that darn Cathy

I remember having to decompress after doing the carnival tin set.

Enjoy your decompression time.

If you feel you need a break and just need a simple click kit then you should do it. It doesnt help to get frustrated and break something on the kiki kit and mess it up

It’s just that this is the first time I’ve ever done something like this. Leaving a kit halfway finished to start another one (or several!), and it feels so strange because in my mind you start a kit and you finish it before moving on to the next. I’m really not good at leaving things unfinished. But it was necessary this time! :see_no_evil_monkey:
