Sakura tree meaning

Can anyone on the Asian part of the world please tell me the story behind the Sakura tree? It seems to be an important traditional aspect of Chinese/Japanese builds. I have seen people also mention cherry blossoms…is the Sakura tree the same as a cherry tree? I love the builds hat have a Sakura tree in them, so I’d like to know more meaning behind those beautiful trees! I know I could google information, but I would rather hear the explanation from a more personal point of view.

I couldn’t find a picture of my own Sakura bonsai, so this one is from the Rolife website.

According to Google, Sakura is the Japanese word for Cherry blossom!
If you head east (to DC) around May, they bloom and are very popular to see! My daughter lived there for a bot and experienced them! So beautiful!

@jeanneL Are correct with the name. Japanese referring to it as Sakura. In Australia we call it cherry blossom.

I think they are beautiful. I know that there are festivals in Japan around them. In Australia, I visited a beautiful Japanese garden in a tiny outback town named Cowra and they were in full bloom at the time.

@Suzanne_Jones I bet they are beautiful at that time of year! I want to travel to Washington DC next year in April as I’ve heard that the cherry trees there are beautiful.

You’re welcome @Tkaplan. I am still in the process to collect all Sakura theme build.

@Tricia12 how many are there?? Are you limiting it to the Robotime brand? Have you shared pictures of all you have so far?

Cherry blossom trees, found in Korea, Japan, and other countries, are admired worldwide. Many tourists travel to these Asian destinations to witness their breathtaking beauty when in full bloom.

I have kits from other brands as well. I haven’t shared everything. I need to spend some time reorganizing and displaying it properly and take photos.

As far as I know, cherry blossoms are a distinctive symbol of Japan; their flowers are slightly different from the cherry tree, perhaps due to the tree species and soil conditions.

Sakura is Japanese for cherry blossoms, so they are basically the same thing beautiful pink/white flowers that bloom in spring.
In both Chinese and Japanese culture, cherry blossoms symbolize beauty, hope, new beginnings, and the preciousness of life because they bloom so briefly but brightly.
Many people love building with sakura trees because they look so gentle and peaceful, and they carry such a warm, poetic feeling. It’s not just a tree it’s like a little piece of spring and good wishes in your build! :cherry_blossom:

What a nice post! I’ve just jumped to it right after the Lantern Festival one by @Robotime so my mind is fully into the Asian Traditions mood right now. Is it a signal to order some sushi for lunch today, maybe? Who knows. Shhhh, stomatch. Shut up. You just had your breakfast. Shhhhush.

Anyway! I was more or less aware that sakura trees were a strongly famous thing specially in Japan regarding the worldwide point of view; I’ve actually known a decent amount of people who’s travelled to that country specific to see the cherry blossoms.

The closest thing we have here in Madrid are the almond trees. Those flowers may not be that strongly pink, but they’re still pretty beautiful!

There are also the apple trees of course, but those flowers are more white than anything else.
