Romantic Venice Book Nook

I completed the award I received earlier this week Rolife Romantic Venice Book Nook. The kit is easy to assemble, instructions are clear and materials are typical Rolife, meaning great. It depicts a scene in Venice featuring a gondola upon the canal in a cozy romantic scene. It works well.

The cons on this. Honestly no disrespect to Rolife but it’s plain. There is so much that can be added to make this nook even more impressive. Example: the trees in the original are just plain 2d wood. There are no flowers. There is no 3d aspect to this at all. Also why is a gondola unmanned?

All of these distractions made it a challenge for me to really dive in to. But I did!

Modifications I added : the water ; I painted the base a bright blue mixed with resin. Then painted the water effect the same, brushing carefully. I think this adds more depth and a more reflective water effect. The moss and vines I added to the balconies and anywhere I thought would seem appropriate. I didn’t have many flower but added some on the balcony in the back as well. I added some butterflies around the scene as well. Painted the edges of course and used a furniture marker on the plain wood parts. I also added a nice fat bird on the outside frame (it seems to add a bit more). I also airbrushed some leaves On the trees using a stencil then glued on some fat greenery to the branches for a more visual effect

Bad things I just noticed. For some reason I totally forgot the bridge in the background! I don’t know how I missed that step but it’s not there. I didn’t want to open it back up and add it in as I had already sealed it up. Ugh mistakes are ok keep repeating it to yourself lol

I am proud of this creation however. It has a nice base for a lot of modifications that I just didn’t have right now. I wanted to add a sleepy cat to to either the porch or steps. Once I get my 3d printer up I’ll add it in. I think this is a very nice beginner kit for those who haven’t done many nooks before. And for that Rolife should be praised!

So tell me. Ever made any big mistakes that you noticed afterwards?

P.S I also noticed one of the vases is off its center… I’m going to bed. lol enjoy everyone good nooking and building!
