Opening up the box, it actually had a lot more stuff in it than I expected! There isn’t a lot of wood sheets, most of the furniture stuff is pre-painted and in bags, like the newer kits!
Now look at all these paper cutouts!! I’m going to be cutting paper forever!! But that was expected just by looking at the build and seeing all the books and stuff! I actually like cutting stuff out too!
This particulate kit was manufactured in 2020, so this kit has been sitting around unbuilt for quite awhile! Think I might start adding this in to all my new build posts because I think it’s kind of interesting to see how long a kit has been sitting around for!!
But man did the paint kind of suck! I was going to be out of paint before I got everything looking acceptable. I ended up pulling out my heavy duty white paint to paint a base and then painted the kit colour over top of the white! The two boards on the edges are after like 3 coats of the paint that came with the kit, and I still hadn’t even touched the other side of the boards yet lol. The board in the middle has one coat of white paint on it.
And here is the painting all done, and where I decided to finish for the day!
I’m very excited to do this build! It is an older build, but I still think it’s going to be relaxing, there isn’t too many hard parts to it beside the chandelier that looks kind of finicky.
I hope everyone has been having a great day, and I look forward to sharing this build with you all!
the lighting looks very interesting! I like it!

Are you just using a white acrylic paint for base? or are you using some specific primer?
I am glad you enjoy cutting. I do not mind the straight edges, it is the wonky lines I do not care for! I am sure to cut something off!
Enjoy and Happy New Year to you!
This is such a great start already! I love seeing the old version of Sam’s Study come together, there’s something really charming about it. Can’t wait to see how it looks once more details are added. Following along!
Thank you @jeanneL , @Orangesareus , @Nita_Davis , @ThaoNguyen , and @Lucia_Anderson! I’m pretty excited to do this build, it’s definitely one that you see posted a lot around the internet, so it’s going to be great seeing what it’s all about!
Ahhh I love this so much!! This was actually my very first kit, so it has a really special place in my heart. I enjoyed it sooo much, and seeing you start it brings back all those feelings.
You’re going to have a great time with it, and I’ll be super attentive to every update!! Enjoy every little moment of the build!
Thank you! I think I will have fun too! That’s great to hear it was your first kit! With how much I’ve seen it posted online it seems people are drawn to this one!
I actually do! My first kit ever was one of the Miny City Brands Library Book nooks! It had like over 100 or something… I’m actually pretty excited to do some nice relaxing cutting, and folding paper! Nothing too difficult!
Well then, enjoyyyy!!! They’re not difficult, but the way the books are made in this version has been greatly improved and made much easier compared to how it used to be in this kit. Glue stick will be your best friend here
Working in healthcare is always tough.
For moments like that, I’ve found it really helps to have a small stash of simpler kits, ones I barely customize at all, just following the instructions, not overloading my brain, and simply enjoying the process
