📖 [Rolife Journey] Update 2 Christmas melody tree

Got some more building done tonight. There hasn’t been much progress because I’ve been busy getting the right color for the stairs’ edges. I painted all the walls gold; this is part of the tunnel the train will run through.
Hopefully i got some time tomorrow to build further

Thank you @jeanneL :hugs:

Well done Liset! Painting always extends the building time by heaps but it’s so worth it! I hope you get more time tomorrow!

Looking good @Liset do you mix your own paint till you get the right color?

Even as a house painter who knows a lot about color, I don’t ever waste my time trying to match a paint. It’s much easier for me just to paint the whole piece or section of whatever it is that you are doing in a color that is close. I love the efforts that you put into each and every build… and I look forward to seeing your completed model

I also really enjoy painting the structures. I find painting the edges a little less fun, but the structure looks so much better

Yes, I had a brown color, but it was too dark. Then I added some white to lighten it, but it turned out too orange. I then added some gray, and it was a bit too dark again, so I added some more white, and then it was good.

I enjoy experimenting. If the structure is pre-printed, the paint adheres much more evenly than if I were to paint it myself. That’s why I try to mix the colors until it’s perfect and I only have to paint the edges

I totally understand what you’re saying. If I choose to paint the whole thing, I will always sand first. It helps the paint to adhere better

that’s true but I don’t like sanding haha so that’s why I do it this way

To each their own…lol! Being a house painter, I don’t think people understand how much sanding happens before the painting even starts. My sister worked with me on a job one time And she was totally drained by the end of the day Because she had no idea what it involved…LOL

No problem at all!

An uncle of mine is also a house painter and taught us some painting skills. Sanding is one of the most important things. When I paint at home, I sand everything thoroughly beforehand, but with the builds, the pieces are so small, and that’s annoying to sand  i only sand every side to sand off the hooks
