📖 [Rolife Journey] Sailing Ship - Part 2/3

After a few days off, I’m back with more! No Cuckoo Clock yet, I’m leaving that for next week… Basically because I have a couple of small kits and I don’t like to start something without first finishing what I’ve already started

So we keep going with the little Sailing Ship. And the straightforward build goes on with the masts and sails already! Really, I’m worried about the amount of fragile parts these small kits contain. And that comes with a sad bang for me this time. Why? Well… I’ve add the first mast and sail, alright.

But you know? The seas are dangerous, so this ship, as small as it can be, is supposed to be able to deffend itself. Not mine, sadly. You’re supposed to put together a couple of cannons that will defend each side of the stern, but the pieces are so tany and fragil that every single one of them broke while trying to put them together. The tiny holes in the body of the canon parts are just too close to the edges of them, and… Yeah, I’ve gotta say it. I was a little frustrated! But hey, nothing I could do from there, so I’ve just decided this will be the Ship of Peace. Problem solved! So I just kept putting those cute little masts together instead.

Not bad, huh? The sails were also interesting to add. Instead of the fabric-ish ones you’d find in the Seahorse Barque, the Sailing Ship is 100% made of wooden parts, so the two main sails are basically wooden foldable parts you’d have to work carefuly with. The result is pretty cool though!

Do you see the same I see? The bow is a bit… Empty, right? And the pointy ends don’t come closer enough to each other?

Problem solved!

Last but not least, the details that make a difference. I had to make the base to hold the ship, and also, so it’ll look like it’s moving (it’s called Sailing Ship, after all), I had to add some parts below the bow and stern areas that kind of emulate the sea waves moving around the hull. Nice touch, huh?

And this is how it looks so far! The building is completely done regarding wooden parts, so the only remaining thing to do is what I like to call “to tie up the boat”. Ropes are coming! But not today.

Nice one! Your build is so neat. Are you having a trouble building it?

Wow. It’s almost done.:pink_heart: It’s awesome and broken pieces are part of the journey though I know it’s really frustrating since I’ve experienced breaking pieces before.

I really like this. Wow!
Good job on the build. Shame about the cannons, but the ship still looks amazing.

I love how you show the results of putting together these tiny kits, they are underrated, and thanks to your efforts and descriptions, I think you really show their hidden value!

Your ship is looking good. I can imagine how fragile this is, it being so small.

Shame about the cannons are they broken beyond repair? :sob: I still think she turned out beautiful and will be unique to you. I hope the ropes behave and you’ll finish this build on a high note.

Well, I basically broke all the canon body-parts so it’s not armed. Hopefully no other ship will come to harm it!

Yeah, I guess we all have been there! Thanks for your words.

Yeah, I didn’t really see how that was gonna be fixable

Beautiful.
I had fun building this one

The frustration of the fragile parts getting broken over and over again just for you to realize there are no spares left :sob: I hate it so much specially when the part are important or will leave holes peeking when they’re not snapped in their places

Yes, I got annoyed when I first broke the wood of the model that I’m making. It seems that is a common mistake so I let it pass now unlike before. You’re welcome.
