👍 [Rolife DIY & Creativity] TD05 - Love on the balcony

Teddy wanted to enter a painting contest to cheer on the local sports competition. But the more he wanted to do well, the more stuck he felt.

Soccer was too familiar. Surely many people would choose it. Teddy didn’t want his painting to blend in with the crowd. He wanted to paint something different. Something with emotion.

But emotion doesn’t come when you sit still.

So, Teddy, carrying his easel and paint box, wandered through playgrounds, open fields, places filled with laughter and movement. He watched the games, badminton matches, basketball shots… all beautiful, but nothing truly touched him.

Until he passed Angel’s house.

Angel had just arrived at the gate. Seeing Teddy with all his art supplies, Angel was surprised:

“Where did you go with the whole world?”

Teddy chuckled softly, then hesitated. He wasn’t used to talking about his frustrations. But Angel’s sincere gaze made him open up.

He told her about the competition. About his desire to draw. And about his uncertainty about what to draw.

Angel was silent for a moment.

Then she gently asked,

“What do you think about boxing?”

Teddy blinked.

“I… don’t know much about it. And I rarely see anyone practicing it.”

Angel smiled. A smile with a hint of mystery.

“So, would you like to draw it?”

Teddy was surprised:

“But how?”

Without answering immediately, Angel opened her backpack. From inside, Angel took out a pair of gloves. Red. Slightly worn. But well-preserved.

“I’m practicing,” Angel said. “If you don’t mind… I can be your model.”

In that moment, Teddy felt like he had found what he had been searching for all day.

Angel stood in the middle of the small room.

The late afternoon sunlight streamed through the window, touching the gloves and creating a thin, luminous border.

Angel said nothing more.

She just stood there.

Her feet were steady.

Her hands were raised.

Her gaze was focused.

Teddy sat before his easel. His heart was beating faster than usual.

His first pencil strokes were hesitant.

He drew the shape.

Then he drew the pose.

But then Teddy realized… the important thing wasn’t the shape.

It was the gaze.

“Angel…”

“Yes?”

“Why do you practice boxing?”

Angel didn’t answer immediately.

After a while, Angel spoke, her voice very soft:

“Because sometimes… I feel very weak.”

“And when I put on the gloves… I feel like I can be a little stronger.”

Teddy stopped drawing.

He looked at Angel.

Then he looked back at the drawing.

And this time, he didn’t paint a sport.

He painted a person.

Many days later, the painting was finished.

In the painting, Angel stood alone.

There was no ring.

No spectators.

Only light.

And gloves.

And the gaze of someone learning to be strong.

Teddy named the painting:

“Silent Courage.”

On the day the results were announced, Teddy stood in the middle of the crowd. His hands were cold.

Angel stood beside him.

“Are you nervous?” Angel asked.

Teddy nodded.

Angel smiled:

“I’m not.”

“Why?”

“Because I’ve seen that painting before.”

Angel looked at Teddy.

“And in it… I looked like the person I’ve always wanted to be.”

At that moment, the announcer’s voice rang out:

“First prize goes to… Teddy’s work ‘Silent Courage’!”

Everything around Teddy blurred.

He only heard applause.

And saw Angel… clapping the loudest.

Teddy won the competition.

But more importantly, he had found what he truly wanted to paint.

Not sports.

But courage.

And sometimes…

Courage is simply standing still in the light,

and not giving up.

I don’t know what I love the most here, the build or the tale. Such a heartwarming story to give them that background! I’m so happy they both overcame their issues in the end and found their lost courage.

I also like it because, after all, they tried to fulfill their wishes.

Exactly. They helped each other fulfill them, ant that’s also a great accomplishment.

I was thinking about our community. People are also helping each other to complete the model and overcome the difficulties.

This is such a sweet and heartwarming comparison.

Thank you so much

I’ve read the story and it’s such a good and romantic one. You have a talent for short story.

Thank you. I had to think for quite a while to make the story fit.
