Simple Upgrade, Unexpected Glow
It was super windy and snowy today, so I stayed home and did a little “miniature check-up” ![]()
With Valentine’s Day coming up, I pulled out an old chocolate shop build — and surprise! The lights were broken ![]()
While taking it apart to fix them, I suddenly thought… since I’m already here, why not upgrade it too?
So today I want to share a super easy way to upgrade the lighting in your miniatures — no complicated wiring, I promise!
Most of us already add lights inside shops, so I won’t go into that. This time, the trick is adding lights underneath the base — simple but totally game-changing ![]()
All you need are two small wooden strips or a few tiny wooden blocks to slightly lift the base. I used small bulbs, so about 5 mm of height is enough. Then just tape the lights underneath the base — that’s it!
I usually start with low-tack tape to test the position first. Once I’m happy, I switch to stronger tape to secure everything. Don’t forget to point the lights downwards ![]()
The difference between no lights vs. lights on is huge — the whole vibe changes completely!
I’d also recommend setting the lights under the base on a separate switch or battery pack, because you might not want to have them on all the time.
Here’s another miniature I upgraded with lights — this one has the lights hidden under the base.
If you have any other fun tips or ideas to share, feel free to leave a comment — I’d love to learn from you too! ![]()
