Nice! This one is lovely
it is common for these to be gifted at Christmas here in Australia too.
Yes it is a tradition in the US as well. This would be a great one to paint..and very easy to do so. I hope you enjoy it!
In the netherlands we don’t have a tradion like that. Is this the first flower your building
That is a nice one. During Xmas I’ll be seeing shop selling slot of it. It’s very common in Australia. I used to have the plant years ago but when I moved house, I don’t have them anymore..
My mom always had them around during the Christmas season.
It is relatively common where I live. ![]()
Have fun building!
IS IT REALLY TOXIC TO CATS??!! I had no idea and have gotten one every year… I’m thankful my cat must be smart then, and it’s good I ordered one of these kits so I can be more mindful in the future! ![]()

Yeeeeeees!!! I looked it up on Google because I wanted to give you accurate information:
“Poinsettias are not highly toxic to cats, but they can cause mild irritation and an upset stomach with symptoms like vomiting, drooling, or diarrhea if ingested. The milky white sap in the plant’s leaves can also cause skin irritation, redness, and swelling, and may lead to mild conjunctivitis if it gets in the eyes. While not deadly, it’s best to keep poinsettias out of your cat’s reach.”
Good thing your cat is smart and didn’t eat it… many cats have a real weakness for plants! ![]()
How cool! It’s funny that it’s not just a tradition here. How interesting!
Looks so cool! I love having poinsettias in my house around this this time! Have fun building this! ![]()
That’s so lovely! Seriously, I think it’s so cool that it’s a tradition in places so far apart in the world.
Thank you, @Emma_Samchek! Is it also a tradition in your country?
Right, @Tricia12? I also have a feeling it’s going to be small and cute, judging by the size of the box and the few pieces it has. It’ll make such a lovely decoration! I find it really interesting that it’s also a tradition in Australia. ![]()
No way! Really? Are there any other Christmas traditions related to plants where you live? And no, it’s not my first flower, I’ve made quite a few already, wooden ones from Rowood and plastic ones too; I’ve even made some bouquets that I think are just adorable, hehe.
I love that, how interesting! I was thinking the same — this one could look really nice if I paint the edges a bit, I just need to find a color that matches well. It has only a few pieces and it’s quite small, so I’m sure it’ll be an easy and cute build! Thank you, @Nita_Davis! ![]()
I find it so interesting that it’s also a tradition in Australia, @Nectarines! And then in places like the Netherlands, which are much closer, it isn’t. It doesn’t really make sense, but I find it so fascinating, haha.
Can you believe I had never looked it up either? ![]()
I’ve always liked them, but since they’re toxic to cats, I never paid much attention to them. We’ll have to show them off proudly on the 12th — it’s their day, haha!
No not that i know off. We tradionaly celabrate sinterklaas on december 5th is a lot like christmas. Is for kids. On christmas we always eat at my sisters house. 2nd day of christmas i have to work
