I had this same problem. I realized that the wax was actually too sticky. I warmed the model with the wife’s hair dryer and ran the machine up and down several times. Works like a dream now!

I did not have any problems at all with the model except for the initial test before building. I had to do it like 20 times…LOL! I had no problems at all using the wax provided…and I had even painted every piece before assembling. I am glad that you found a solution for the problem you had. I just completed this puzzle and had a great time doing it! I did run into 2 issues, one very similar this where the slide moves just a bit at the end of the slide.

  1. First, I struggled with the slide not sliding smoothly, even after sanding and waxing. I removed the slide, and looked closely and It turned out the two “+” pieces that hold the geared slide pieces to the non-geared slide pieces on each side have a small arrow (barely visible in the instructions - I had to magnify them to see them). Turns out I had turned them 90 degrees the wrong way. Turning those correctly fixed the problem right away.
  2. I had the problem shown in the slide as well - extending then retracting just a bit at the very end before stopping. Occasionally, it would retract, and the arms would close, but the lights under the slide and bottom of the rocket would never light. Sometimes pushing the button did nothing. I’m not 100% sure the cause, but I fixed it by reseating all of he electrical connections onto the board - and made sure the wires were all pushed into the connectors as far as I could - particularly the one with the most wires - on the bottom). I’m not sure if it was not in correctly, wires not aligned, or something like that, but replugging them all solved the problem.

Have u waxed it enough? Or maybe didnt sand it enough?

I read a comment above about too much wax so I used a hair dryer on it and now works, apart from clicking when retracted and openeing. The problem I had that it wouldn’t move so for me I had too much wax on it.
