💖 [ Rokr - Heartwarming] Ready, Set… Cuckoo Clock!

I’m officially starting a brand-new build… The Cuckoo Clock!

Any tips before I dive too deep? I’m making this one as a “Christmas” present for my grandma. It might be for the Three Kings’ Day or Los Reyes Magos (January 6th in Spain), I’ll definitely make it on time.

These past few days have been a bit rough, she gave us a real scare and has been admitted to the hospital. She’s been quite fragile after her shoulder surgery, and now it seems that she’s caught a bacteria, but we really don’t know, so I’m very worried… Luckily, the doctors say the prognosis looks good but I’m worried anyway… It will take time, but, while she recovers, I’ve decided to pour all my love and focus into this gift. The sooner it’s finished, the sooner I can place it in her hands, and I know it will make her incredibly happy.

So far, I’ve assembled the motor and the adorable little cuckoo bird, which I’ll keep white because it looks so sweet. I’ve also learned two things very quickly:

  1. That little tool in the picture is absolutely going to be my best friend for this build.
  2. I need to go buy three AAA batteries so I can run the first clock test! :joy:

Not bad for a first session!

I just have to re-adjust my brain a bit, I’ve been building so many Rolife kits lately that switching back to ROKR instructions feels different, and I don’t want to skip a single step by accident.

Let the Cuckoo Clock Adventure begin… with lots of excitement, patience, and hope.

I can’t wait to see how it turns out!! :face_holding_back_tears:

Going back to a technical build always requires a switch in your prime as it is a different approach to building then a nook. Sure you will be doing great. Hope your grandma recovers soon

This is a really fun one to do. Instructions are very clear as always. I struggled a bit keeping the fascia pieces (eaves) attached to the roof sections as I built it, so I glued them. Enjoy and best wishes for a full recovery for your grandmother

I might get this soon and not bother with painting it too. I’ve had enough of painting, truly. :face_holding_back_tears:

Yeees!!! As soon as she’s out of the hospital, I’ll see if I’m feeling well and go visit her to give it to her :face_holding_back_tears:

And the same happens to me. It’s not that I dislike painting the furniture and all that, buuuut I enjoy assembling them more than painting them, that’s why I have the painted version of the clock heheh

 I hope you feel better soon too!

Same! I sometimes feel ‘guilty’ not painting because so many in the community paint and they do an amazing job! But I need to accept painting everything is not for me and I want to still enjoy what I’m working on hahaha.

Exactly. I know painting isn’t my strongest skill, so I leave that to those who know how to do it nicely. I usually paint the edges, sometimes the furniture, and that’s it. Sometimes I do feel like painting, but I’m too much of a perfectionist and I know I won’t meet my own expectations :see_no_evil_monkey:
