Today was an incredibly special day in my classroom: my students have finally started building their very own Robotime kits, and the excitement was absolutely contagious!
@Robotime has been so kind and generous for donating these kits to my school. The children were thrilled when they saw them. They felt truly appreciated and were so happy that their photos and comments about the Red Camellia were noticed and liked. They enjoyed that project so much, and now they’re unbelievably excited to build their own kits and eventually take them home once they’re finished.
For this first day, I showed them all the kits they could choose from, and we held a little lottery using our “lucky sticks” (wooden sticks with their names on them). As their names were drawn, each student chose the kit they liked the most, and luckily, everyone ended up with a kit they were really happy about!
Once the choosing was done, they grouped themselves by kit type. This meant each group had students building the same model, making four groups of five and one pair. They followed the steps together, helped one another, and supported each other if someone got stuck while I was helping another student.
This was something truly beautiful to watch, they showed so much teamwork, empathy, and patience. Every time someone struggled with a tricky piece, didn’t understand a step, or felt a bit frustrated, another classmate immediately stepped in to help. It was honestly heartwarming.
They spent the entire afternoon fully focused and excited while working on their kits. As I expected, we didn’t finish, so now all the kits are safely stored in a special corner of our classroom. We’ll keep building them little by little over the next few weeks.
My plan is to keep sharing updates on their progress, how the builds evolve, their thoughts and experiences, and some reflections from my side as well.
For now, I can already say this:
The Christmas Fireplace is turning out to be one of the easiest and most entertaining kits for them. Next would be the Wooden Pine Bonsai and the Sakura Bonsai, both with similar difficulty and quite manageable for them.
The more challenging ones are Santa On Sleigh, which I’m helping them quite a bit with (but they’re doing amazingly well!), and the most difficult so far has been the Purple Moth Orchid because it has so small parts and I need to help them a lot to put them at place.
I’m so excited about this project, and I hope you enjoy following it just as much as we’re enjoying bringing it to life!
