Robotime DIY & Crafting Club Meetup - Connecting with Crafts

The very first Robotime DIY & Crafting Club Meetup—Connecting with Crafts—came to life in the charming coastal town of Sooke, BC (population ~18,000) on Vancouver Island, Canada. :canada: Under warm, golden sunshine, participants arrived with bright smiles to match the day. :sun: Name tags were filled out, numbers were drawn, and a buzz of excitement quickly built as everyone waited to discover which kit they’d receive.

Curiosity turned into delight as the collection of kits was revealed. From the intricate Night of the Eiffel Tower to Rowood’s Wooden Flower Basket, and from Rolife’s Century Train Book Nook to the whimsical Henry’s Chocolate Miniature House and Blooming Tea Garden—there was truly something for everyone. Participants settled into their desired spots, and before long, the room was alive with easy conversation and shared anticipation.

Following a brief introduction to Robotime, the group gathered for a round of introductions. It quickly became clear that many attendees were completely new to Robotime—and even to crafting kits like these—making the experience all the more exciting. After a short window to trade kits, the boxes were opened with genuine enthusiasm.

What followed was an afternoon of connection, creativity, and collaboration. As instructions were deciphered and tiny pieces assembled, conversations flowed naturally. The room transformed into a lively, supportive space where participants helped one another troubleshoot steps, celebrate small wins, and bring their creations to life.

Throughout the afternoon, surprise moments added to the fun. Blind boxes featuring Rolife’s Baby Nanci Fruits and Milk Tea series were handed out, sparking curiosity and delight. Many participants were discovering them for the first time, already imagining where their new figurines might live—on office desks, car dashboards, or shelves at home. A few even searched for the elusive “special” edition, joking about ordering more in hopes of receiving it.

As the hours slipped by, the energy never waned. One participant reluctantly stepped away early to return to work, while a mother and daughter proudly completed their Blooming Tea Garden together. Around the room, steady progress and growing confidence were evident in every project.

As the event wrapped up, the sense of community was undeniable. Participants shared heartfelt appreciation, with one remarking, “This is exactly what our community needs more of.” Many eagerly asked about future meetups, meetups in the nearest community to Sooke, and ways to stay connected to know when the next event is. Others admitted they were already hooked—excited to finish their kits and start new ones.

By the end of the day, it was clear: this wasn’t just a crafting session. It was the beginning of something special—new connections formed, creativity sparked, and a community brought together through the simple joy of making.
