👍 [Pro Tips] Pre-paint for Christmas Wreath

I have recently started on the Christmas wreath and I am working on my fourth color for the leaves. I noticed these little tiny dots on one set of the leaves and I am wondering what color these should be. I am not a plant person and I have no idea what kind of leaves these are. Should I just make them white dots like they are snow.. or should they be red or should they be a darker shade of green as an imperfection in this kind of leaf? Does anybody know or have a suggestion? The other two pics are before and after…and I am changing some shade of green and another coat is needed on the ones posted first.

It’s looking fantastic already, @Nita_Davis! I love the idea of white dots as snow, but a slightly darker green for texture would look great too. I’m sure it will look fantastic whatever you do heheh

It looks great. You did great. I love your color you painted

Still researching…they could be holes in the plant from insects…I don’t know. They may be brown or black or white or green. LOL! I have time to ponder, for sure! @Wenbare

I totally get that :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Honestly, I think you can’t go wrong. Tiny imperfections are what make it feel more natural. A subtle darker green or even a soft brown could look great, but if you’re in a festive mood, the white “snow” idea still totally works too. Take your time, it’s already looking beautiful

Thanks so much for your encouragement and I totally will. When I make a choice at the last minute, it is what it is…LOL!

When I saw them, they reminded me of holly berries. which would be red. I did not paint mine but seriously thought I could

@Nita_Davis When I built my wreath I initially thought of holly berries, but they aren’t proportionate to the leaf, so my thought is that they are just detail on the leaves? Plus, there is already holly berries on the wreath that are the correct size. :slightly_smiling_face:

That is what I thought as well. Too small to be berries. I still have no idea what color I will make them though. I might be adding a bit of snow here and there so maybe I’ll just do them in white… @Tkaplan

I think they are way to small to be holly berries, though @jeanneL

Thanks so much @ThaoNguyen

which is why I ended up ignoring them LOL but they are in small clumps like some kind of berry. Weird

So true. I am going to have to search to find them after painting if I DO decide to make them another color. @jeanneL

I have no idea.. But I like the idea of it being sprinkle of snow here and there.

Haven’t decided for sure yet…but I was thinking of sprinkling snow, so I might just leave the dots alone… @JDisaduck

I would make then a darker colour.

I think that is what I will do with them…since I have FIVE colors of green to choose from…and the dark brown. I am a bit scared of having snow in the wrong places. @Jerry_Boswijk Once you sprinkle it on, it’s there!

I think they’re just strange circles. Maybe they’re supposed to represent snow, but I think making them white would make them too busy. I would darken the spots a bit.

Yep…I agree. Thanks for your input. Although I entertained the thought of adding snow, I think it will be a bit busy. I will use the brown or different shades of the green. @Liset

I also wouldn’t choose snow.
