I think @ThaoNguyen tried adding lights but I’m not sure if I remember it right. Please correct me if I’m wrong Nicole

Yes, you’re right. I added light in super creator kit

This would be an amazing decor but as i can see super creator kits have their power source & there is no option to connect naked wire

So, how you added with those power source adapter

There is are extra JST ports available at the back to I plan to connect the light thru a wire with a JST male connector at the end so that I can connect it directly at the power switch of the Super Creator (aka the aircon units at the back).

I just need to know what the size of this JST male connector is so that I can buy one since I don’t have extras of these from the official Super Creator kit.

Hopefully! If I am succesful with this project, I’m going to share all the materials I used a d tutorials I followed so in case someone wants to do the same thing, resources will be easier to find. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

@khimmymade this neon-sign customization is such a sweet idea for your daughter. Since it involves power and heat, your cautious approach is the right one. Hope the community wiring experts can help you find the correct connector and keep it safe.

@April_Jones this is a really helpful way to break the problem down. The reminder that the fit inside the tiny sign is the tricky part is exactly the kind of practical detail that makes customization discussions useful.

Ị haven’t try adding additional light but I think it would be really nice.

I see.
Can you please share a photo of the back of the power switch just so I can get a better idea of what you could do, otherwise it’s hard to make a recommendation.

Since I’ve not had this kit and online on Rolife website it doesn’t say what batteries are used etc, can you tell me what batterie are being used and how many to power the current lights?
I assume it might be 2xAA batteries?

And normally what I’d do in this sort of situation since it’s a very small strip you want to connect that won’t draw too much current, you could simply solder the wires in parallel so on the existing switch.

This is such a cool idea! I don’t know enough about wiring to help though. I wish you good luck with your build!

The Super Creator kits do not have batteries. They have a power switch which can then be connected to a USB-C cable. The power switch has 3 JST ports at the back where you can connect the included light for the kit. Usually, the kits only has 1 light so only 1 port is in use but there are kits that uses all 3 ports when they have 3 separate lights included.

This is the back the power switch which is creatively designed into an aircon unit.

At the right and left side of this are USB C ports so that you can supply power to it.

This is the sample of the JST male connector at the end of the light that is included in this kit.

Thanks @Zoe_Lau ! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Martin is helping me out right now. When I get this sorted out, I’ll share the resources I used so in case someone wants to do the same, it’ll be easier to recreate. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

That’s great! This is such a nice DIY touch and I’m sure others in the community would love to have those resources to customize their own builds.

Do you think the JST connector size is a “JST PH2.0”? I’ve been trying to research further about this and that’s always the answer I get tho I still haven’t confirmed if it’s true as the ones I ordered haven’t arrived yet.

@khimmymade thats a great idea for the community ! It will come in very handy ! :cherry_blossom::rosette::cherry_blossom::two_hearts:

Okay that’s perfect thank you.

So from the looks of things it’s probably a JST-PH 2.0mm 2 pin male connector.

There’s also a very slim chance that it’s a JST-ZH 1.5mm connector, but to make sure you have the right size connector is to measure the distance between the 2 pins, so the centre part only.

Thank you! I’ll try to look for my caliper to get a better measurement. Another worry I have is if I can connect a 5V 1mm thin, 30cm long COB LED light to it. I am worried about the light overheating or something like that.

You’re definitely right to worry about it because you don’t want the controls board to overheat/fail.
Have you got specs of your LED light you want to plug in?
What’s the power rating on it?
